switching hatches

hey whatsup, im concidering swapping my hatch from my 91 which i am going to sell to my 92. i kind of like the no spoiler look and since they are both white it will match fine…what would i have to go about doing to do this. ive searched and cannot find anything.

Remove the inside passanger side C pillar panel & unhook the harness. Remove the 4 hinge bolts from the hatch & the 2 strut bolts.

nice thanks, is the hatch really heavy?? im gonna have someone helping me i just wanna know what to expect.

It weighs about (guess) 55 - 65 lbs, if I remember correctly. you will need help as it is very awkward. I removed one by myself at the salvage yard for a fellow member.

Just make sure you tie twine or string around the harness plug (behind where the trunk light is), unplug it then pull the harness out, this always makes it easier to put the new one in. Like 2ndJenn said its about 65 lbs and getting something to grab onto is a little hard. Also having someone helping you will make it alot easier to align it. Have fun.

just like they all said

but make sure it is the same color white, 91’s came in both Polar & Frost White, and the white the 92’s came in is Frost White

:werd: I did a 92-93 front bumper conversion on my '91 and My car is frost white. the bumper is some other white, but it’s close enough where I can only tell in certain light if i look hard enough.

i tried messing with this and i cant seem to figure out the Cpillar thing, the are at the top, im havnig difficulties removing the headliner cause i dont wanna mess nuttin up. can someone help me out wit this. thanks

Just pull it off, they clip right on. Then you can lower part of the headliner down.

yea…i woulda went that route but everytime i do the whole ripping off or pulling it, i break something.

i am also going to be switching hatches because of rust thanks for the info
