Third. No sense getting all bummed about it. Embrace the suck, and find the fun stuff people back home don’t get to experience, and do your best to help them get an idea. Even the little details can be interesting to folks who can’t/are too afraid to come over (like Matty the hoodrat bitch). 
War hero? Your words, not mine. Not that you’d know what heroism is, of course. Hope your A/C stays on; I’d hate for you to ever suffer any sort of discomfort.
