Im trying to put in an aftermarket tach but Im having a hard time finding my wires. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for the follow: (92 RS)
12V (+) turned on/off with ignition
RPM signal wire
12V dash lighting
the best easiest way i did mine was i used for the 12v constant (the red one) i think not sure i tied it together with my radio one same for black ground i think its easier then searching for where to put em jus gotta use a longer wire depending on where u want to mount it… the rpm gauge to make the rpm read work is i took out my cluster look at all the wires. its a blue one with silver dots on it thats rpm wire. splice into it dont cut it in half tho. and wrap the wire onto it and there you go thats the easiest way for me to get it to work with shiftlight too. i removed it after 3 days tho lol to big of a tach xD hope this helps lemme no how it goes or need extra help.
but if you wanted to install the after market tack in the cluster and take out the old one wouldnt you use a power source from the clusters harness. Im really interested in doing this since I saw a member here post a pic if his set up a while back, he never did say how he did it.
12V+ ign., you can use the 2nd ign. “free pin” on the under dash fuse box.
12V+ dash lighting, you can use the park light “free pin” on under dash fuse box… http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=280605467335 the free pins are the 3 terminals just above the fuses, just to the left on pix.
RPM signal, connect to the blue lead at distributor assembly. 94
