tack welds on rad support

where are all of the tack welds on an oem 92 integra radiator support? i am pretty sure there are 2 on each side connecting it to the frame rails. i also know i need to remove the 2 bumper support mounts, other than that i have no idea where the rest of the welds are. also where do i need to wirebrush seam sealer off?

i resently replaced my radiator support there are tack welds every where on it all i did was clean it off with paint thinner and you should be able to see them all they look like little dents the size of a pencial eraser except on the bottom of the radiator support there is a bar going across the bottom you have to break the welds on each side of that and bend it up to expose more welds and yes you have to remvoe the mounting brackets there are about 2 welds on each side in a square patteren around where the brackets is
hope this helps i can take pics of the old radiator support if needed so you can get and idea where they all are just let me know

resserecting dead threads, yay!

anywho serious question here. i bought a parts car that was wrecked in the back. i got it for the interior and the guy just gave me the car. bonus: front end in really good condition, so i swapped that shit (got a 91 ls which now has a 92-93 facelift). anywho, getting off topic.

the radiator support is the shit that the headlights and such mount on correct? well the one on my car currently is kinda tweaked a lil bit so the passenger side headlight is sunk under the hood a lil bit (if you guys can help ill post a pic so you gets an idea of what im taling about).

the question is,. if i drill out/remove the one from the parts car, and replace the one on my current car, we should be hokey dorey yea? i’ve been putting a lot of work into/onto this car since i got it. i really don’t wanna drop buku bucks to have a shop (or rather the acura dealer) fix my ‘tweaked frame’

any info/insight is much appreciated.

thanks guys,
_John

dead thread :bump:

looking for a picture of the rad support with all the spot weld highlighted. can some one help me out with this:up:

Sorry for not putting a pic but when i replaced the rad support on my friends 91 crx there was 60 total, so the integra should have about the same amount maybe a little more.

well i better quit bull shitting and get to work then:giggle: still any pictures would be of great help

Also what size drill bit did you guys use. I dont want to go to big you know:D

There is a special drill bit to cut spot welds. Some look like regular drill bits but have a different face and some look like a holesaw bit with a pin sticking out the middle that centers itself. Whichever bit you use i suggest taking a fine punch and hammer and knocking a little dent into each spot weld, it will help you center the bit and will let you see all the spot welds.

you know i almost finished the pass side. then said fuck it.
