i just replaced my driver sid axl and my abs light came on. before i replaced it my abs would always chirp, but it would never throw an abs light. now as soon as i reach 5 mph the light comes on and no chirp. I think i may have left something unplugged or maybe the wrong axle. They are reman and were built on the spot.
second question is does anyone know the name of the material to make my own tail light gaskets?
the one they sell at home depot or lowes.
to answer your question about the tail light , its called frost king. the use for doors and windows during the winter.
ABS light. You likely damaged the ABS sensor on the corner you removed or didn’t plug it back it.
Gasket. Go to your home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes, etc) and find their weather stripping section. Get a package of 0.25 inch or so wide strip.
are you sure you installed AN ABS axle. there is a difference between it and the NON abs model.
If so then yes you might have damaged the sensor which to be honest would be pretty hard to do the way its set up. If theres an abs light, theres an abs code. time to figure out what it is!
I perfer to get my gaskets form the dealer but any kind of gasket material will work really
problem for abs can be you bought the wrong axle. or during installation you chipped one of the ring gear teeth(carefully turn and inspect this happens alot…or you didnt connect the sensor back correctly…check for frayed or sliced wires…gasket stuff was already answered i also used silicone on top of that
i believe the chirp you are talking about is the seatbelt safety/door chime…if the noise is coming from your front passenger kick panel thats the sealt belt chime
Silicon between the tail-light assembly and the car? He’s not asking how to seal the tail light housing… he’s asking about the gasket between the tail light and body of the car.
Lowes/HomeDepot/WalMart will have it… just look for any foam-type insulation that is 1/4" thick.
no the chirp is my abs. a non abs axle has no teeth on the ring gear? also would this cause my tranny to jump in between gears alot
not sure if it would make the abs continuosly chirp, to me thats a sign of a failing pump and if its done it before but more on a part time basis, then its safe to assume the abs pump(modulator) is and has gone permenently bad.
yes the non abs does not have the sensor pickups on the hub side of the axle. if that is what you installed it would throw a CEL and could possibly be leaded to you pump problems.
I would think the Transmission issue is unrelated and just a coincidence but to early to tell, figure out you other problem first and go from there…
