tail light help!

hey guys so i put some 91 tails on my 93 a few weeks ago. as of last night the break light doesnt work. either one. both turn signals and reverse lights work as well as the running lights. have any ideas? already checked all the bulbs and what not. not only that but the harnesses are from my 93 tails so i know it cant be those. kinda stuck, about to go look through the haynes again just thought you guys might know something that im missing. maybe a fuse im missing? who knows… thanks in advance for all help you guys give me. ~ Alex

nobody has any ideas yet huh? i called a local shop to see if they had any and the only thing they could come up with was the break switch. i just replaced it and it still isnt working. is there only one 15a fuse for the brakes? please help me guys i need to go to work lol

check the bulbs again or swap them out with other ones. make sure that you plugged everything in at the right places. you can also try using the other taillight harnesses. good luck!

oh. also, make sure to check your brake switch. maybe something is wrong with it?

well thats just it, i replaced the brake switch with a new one and its not just the tail lights its the brake lights (all of them) even the upper third brake light. i dont know what else to do…

ok, i got it! lol i guess it pays to check ALL the fuses and not just the ones that are supposuble to do with brakes. it turned out to be a 20a fuse under the hood. problem solved…thanks guys! woohoo another DA on the road!

so yea 8 months later…

im driving home tonight and sure enough a guy pulls up next to me and says my brake lights arent working. i checked them when i got home and all the bulbs are fine, both the fuse under the hood and the one under the dash are fine. so i guess ill be buying another brake switch tomorrow to see if thats it this time, my question is this

does anyone have a diagram of what size fuses go under the hood?

i dont have anything telling me witch fuses go where and what ampage they are. before it was a blown 20a fuse and now the fuse is fine, i even replaced it with a new 20a and nothing…

so… any ideas guys?

The fuse for the brake lights in a G2 is fuse 37 - 20A, [hot at all times] in engine bay fuse box, it is the only fuse for the brake lights.

If you have a multimeter or 12V test light confirm that you have power on the white/green lead at the brake light switch, [hot at all times] then press the brake peddle and see if you have power on the green/white lead.

If you do not have a meter or test light you can unplug the brake light switch and use a jumper wire in the plug and jump white/green to green/white, if the brake lights come on, replace the switch.

Unfortunately, if the brake lights do not come on it only tells you that the problem is not the switch, [or only the switch].

Without a meter or test light it can be very difficult to trace where the problem is.:stare:94

I’m having this same problem…Whether or not the lights are turned on or off. my brake lights don’t work. I’ve checked the fuses under the hood and under the dash and still nothing…I’m thinking change the light bulbs again but don’t think that will help…any ideas…going to check the switch again right now…going to jump it…

Okay I jumped it and they work…one of my bulbs is out…So that means it is my switch right…or a connection on the switch possibly???

Probably the switch.:whisper:94

yea I replaced it and everything works fine now…Thanks though…everything I tried came from posts that you had made…
