I have a 92 GS, the ABS doesnt work… Can I take it out? without having to switch to RS brakes.
yes, you can remove it. its quite a job though from what i hear. and you’ll have to spend an extra $100 or so on new brake lines from acura.
do a search, i believe its been discused a few times. also, you may want to contact Amerikan, he recently did it on his gsr.
aww f*** that then I’m that THAT desperate to make my engine bay look nicer.
I was considering it too, but in the end decided that when I finally go to sell it, who ever’s buying it will likely pay more if it’s advertised as having ABS. Mine works, I just don’t like it and it’s extra weight. But if it makes me a few hundred extra $'s when I go to sell it, I’m not going to chuck it.
ABS has been removed from my GSR. I picked up a proportional valve, with the engine bay lines from a part out for 40 bucks. I am still using the ABS MC. The fittings coming out of the MC will have to be used. Only other things you would need is a flare tool kit, and a pipe/ tube bender. You can get both these tools for less than $20 through Harbor Freight Tools.
I took out my abs and it wasn’t fun. I got a non abs master cylinder and brake booster and the brake lines from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve all from the junkyard for about a hundred bucks. you can always bend your own lines, it’s not hard. It took about four hours.
