tar removal

my tar removal project is almost complete, but i still have a little bit of residue of small tar chunks that are hard to scrape off, and it is very cold right now so using goo gone to make the tar sticky to wipe away wont work… anyone know of a chemical i could use that would wipe away the tar good? ive scrapped the majority of the tar off, time for something else to get the rest of it off. i was thinking , paint thinner maybe but i dont know… ive already tried alittle bit of gasoline, but it didnt work. im basically looking for the best chemical or strongest chemical to remove the tar, anyone have any experience with this, help appreciated, thanks.

Non-acetone nail polish remover is my end-all for adhesive/tar removal. I’ve never had a problem using it and some elbow grease.

Just be sure and get non-acetone stuff (it comes in two varieties… most brands have 2 different cap/label styles to differentiate the types), otherwise you’ll be rubbing off your paint, too.

kinda off topic, but how did you get the big parts of tar off?

the tar is inside the interior, its a bitch to take out i dont recommend it, and now i have exhaust problems, leaking into the car because the tar helped with sealing the floors, but i do feel a good power increase because the tar weighed alot, you just gotta chip at it for awhile to get it off. . im almost done i guess ill just try paint thinner to get the rest off theres so much of it.

i know im bringing up an old thread …but i just chipped away at it …i got the whole rear done and now im working on the front …the little spots i cant get off im going to use the non-acetone nail polish …it takes a little time but its all worth it i think it is pretty heavy …
