So i went to the local pick and pull today and i found a 95 taurus wagon, snagged the cupholders out of it. as well as a valve cover off a 99 LS
Test fit without any modification
Fitment after cutting the back triangles flush with a scroll saw , removing the bottom flange with a dremel, applying some grease to the tracks and cleaning it up.
nope, fit fine even with the metal clips, i just removed them for the convenience of not having to push the taps in to get it out everytime. didnt have to use any force, nor damage or modify stock interior pieces.
no radio as of this moment, i took the oem cassette radio out, put that away with all my other OEM parts and im trying to find the right radio to put in, i was thinking double din, but now that i have these i was thinking more along the lines of a single din with slide out screen, then i have to worry about the tracks wearing out lol so im not sure what i want yet.
*** car is not a DD so not really a necessity yet ***
nope i believe the year is 1990-1995 all taurus’, i found one in a sedan that was a 92 but it was bent up. if you can find a mercury sable in the same generation, they contain cupholders that can be used too. If you don’t find anything at a junkyard, dont resort to ebay, check fords parts websites they can also be bought new for a little more than a junkyard price.
i did this mod just a few weeks ago, fits amazing for coming from a ford, but with the cupholder out on the bottom of the cd player or the storage pocket as pictured, my hand hits it when shifting, i move it to the top but the shape of the dash it sticks out a little far, still holds my redbull can at an angle with no spills, better then nothing for now! cool mod and interesting where the part comes from, just my experiences so far
