I’m not one of those people who wait for the last minute to file for their tax return. Just received my W2’s and I’m filing today.
Not going crazy this year with my return. I’m picking up some much needed furniture for my house and buying (yet another) car to fix and flip. 1996 eclipse gst auto for $500. Runs but wont go into OD, needs a new a/c belt and some new sensors. Already has a GReddy BOV and a cat back.
Depending on the MPG, I may use this as a daily beater and leave the lex for the weekends.
mainly plan on saving it, just going to get a set of coils for the teg and leave the rest in the bank, wouldnt mind throwing it in a CD or something that can accrue some interest
if i can snag a jointer at a decent price before we get our taxes done, i’m gonna use a bit of tax $ for a bandsaw, momma gets to treat herself to something nice, the rest is paying off our credit card balance.
if i don’t snag a decent jointer prior, then that’s what i’m getting in lieu of a bandsaw.
buy AppleCare for my macbook and maybe some new skewers for my Yakima SprocketRockets (the ones i have are missing the locking mechanism, not to be confused with the lock cores). Rest goes into ze bank.
shitty part is, out here you have to be willing to fork over BARE MINIMUM $300k for a place that doesn’t have an association, and at that price point you’re looking at a veritable shithole of a ‘house’.
we’re putting up with our bullshiat association for 3-5 years, then we’ll start looking for a nicer place that DOESN’T have one.

and the funny part is here anything in the $300k range is a shithole with yearly property tax of bill of close to $10k. You can hardly party here for under $600k and on that level you’re talking $15-30k a year in taxes. Yes $30,000/year in taxes.
I didn’t get a much of a refund this year or any year for that matter. I don’t own a home, have no dependents, didn’t attend school and made no serious investments. I made decent money and had the correct amount of taxes taken out of my 26 pay checks. Even my bonuses were taxed properly. Not really a fan of giving either the federal government or Trenton interest free loans. I got a few hundred back from the feds and about $50 back from Trenton after taking the standard deductions. I might put some gas in my car or pay my electric bill. Go me.
If all goes well, i’ll be buying another integra. This time a 3rd gen 4 door. Since my DA was stolen, i’ve been driving a minivan. Time for me to get back into one.
