ive been searching in here for a while and i am not finding exactly what my issue is. I am getting the flashing S3 light and the car will not start. My TCM code is 2,3,7,8,1. if anyone can please tell me what this code means or better yet, just have an available list of all TCM codes.
Wow man, we are in the same city pretty much, having the same problems with the same car at the same time. Maybe we can let each other know what we’ve found out. I have the same tranny codes and the car won’t start…
funny thing is, if you disconnect your battery for about a min or so, and then put it back on, it fires right up. Other than that i still havent been able to search or find that error code im getting with the TCM. Im wondering if anyone has a site or just a list of all the TCM codes…
another issue im having is with the CEL. the CEL doesnt come on if the engine has been sitting there for a while, just whenever the engine heats up to normal it throws the CEL. ive tried the test to get the CEL to flash, but unsuccessful. Im thinking it might be the O2 sensor or something in that area… Since ive goten the car, its been throwing that CEL, but thats not a big priority with me. My main concern is S3 flashing and unable to start the car.
what part of arlington are you in, im in south Grand Prairie… south of pioneer off carrier pkwy.
bump
Dude, I had almost the same problem-make sure to check what cel code your are throwing. Mine was throwing code 6 which was coolant temp sensor and s3 flashing at startup. Car would start on the 2nd or 3rd attempt. Since I just replaced the coolant temp sensor I took to the shop. They said my coolant temp sensor was sending a temp of -144 degrees. Yes thats negative 144 degrees to the ecu. Anyways all they had to do was reinstall the sensor - there was nothing wrong with it. S3 went away and car starts perfectly ever since. Very strange.
im not getting a CEL
ya, im stuck at work right now… the engine wants to start but it doesnt turn over completly. anyone know about this… again, im not getting a CEL, just whenever the S3 flashes, the car wont start
Put it in neutral and try to start.
my helms is downstairs so i dont know about code 3, but 1,2,7,8 are shift/lock-up solenoid issues. i don’t know why it doesnt start but i have a feeling that it is tied in with the main fuel relay… i might be totally wrong. the s3 light flashes when the mfr is disengaged, but in your case it might have nothing to do with it. from what ive heard from people ive spoken to at acura, the shift/lockup solenoids should have nothing to do with the car starting, so im in the same boat as you.
Same error
I’m having a similar issue:
off and on for about the last 6 months, the car will occasionally not start. Usually when its either warm outside or after I’ve only driven a short while and then stopped the car. I assumed it was something relating to compensation for engine temp (adjusting fuel ratio or the like). Usually I let it sit for a minute and h ave no problems.
Yesterday night I got to my car (it was sitting all day and not hot out).
I had trouble starting it, then got a blinking S3.
Trans code check TCM shows 1,2,3,7,8
AND - when i put it in drive it was like it was stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. I was able to get it to second by putting it manually there on the selector, but when I went back to S3/S4 or D - it went back into 3rd or 4th and stayed there.
Anybody know a good reason? I’ll maybe flush my trans when I get a chance and change the fluid…??

okay, this worked for me a couple of times, but my teg is sitting up at work cause the lil turd didnt start. again, me and my dad have no where close to figuring out but this is what we noticed.
A couple of times when the S3 light was flashing, and the car wouldnt start, we disconnected both pos and neg on the battery for a min or so. once the battery is reconnected, we disconneted the ECU fuse located at on the passanger side under the hood closest to the side view mirror. after reconnecting the fuse, the car started right up.
it might just be dumb luck but it has worked the few times we have tried it.
Another observation… when u put the car in the on position, you should hear the solenoid from the transmission click. after a second or so, you should hear another click. after which starting the car. Well, when the S3 light is flashing, only one click occurs…
again, this might just be stupid observations but i think since so many people are having issues, yet no one has answers, anything will help…
try this, tell me what happens… maybe if we all try and work on this we might find the issue.
the temp idea is also a good point to look for. I have never had an issue starting up the car in the morning… I live in texas and i usually leave the house at 7am… i leave work at 430pm when its 100+. and thats when i have my issues…
any more information would be helpful for more than just myself.
if you have your problems in the heat, check your mfr
