tdc? man my tdc is offffff, when i do the screwdriver test for highest mark… my crank pulley is off the mark and my cams are about a tooth off each… should i reset the tdc to where the screwdriver is highest or what??? i am confused big time.

you remove your spark plug and put a screwdriver down into the cylinder. Then turn the motor over, when the piston is at tdc the screwdriver will be at its highest point.
sjwbatman: when you use the screwdriver to test for tdc its not perfect. there will be some slack at the top. usually the screwdriver will stay in place and you can move the crank pulley a little side to side, thats normal. Its just because the piston is changing directions right there. Now if its going back down or still rising once the marks on the pulley and cam gears…then something seems off.
one question, what exactly are you looking at on the cam gears to check for tdc? the crank pulley cannot be off, there is a small key that locks it in place on the crank. So, when the crank reads tdc, the motor had to be at tdc. You just need to make sure the cams are positioned correctly and that the belt is on right.
we have the tdc right the cams are positioned to that line on the motor so they are exactly lined up and the crank is lined up, the screwdriver is high,
but still not firing any help… could it be dis cap or the rotor…
checked all connections… need help

well, when it won’t start you should start by checking the two basic elements:
-fuel
-spark
usually if the motor won’t catch and turn over on its own one of them is to blame.
have fuel and can smell it when it attempts to fire…
here is stupid question how do i check for spark plugs firing…
we really think it is the dis cap and rotor, have to wait till tomorrow to find out though everything is closed up here…
