I’m stumped to what else could be the cause of the shake. The car mildly shakes between 20 and 40 mph, in 2nd and 3rd. After 40 and before 20 it’s very smooth. The car has:
Brand new upper and lower ball joints (both sides)
Brand new axle’s (both sides).
Brand new tires all around
When I replaced the above, the shaking was drastically reduced, but it’s still there.
Tighten up your radius rod where it connects to the front crossmember and also check to see if your tie rods are in good shape.
Also, a bad balanced tire can cause shakes from around 40mph - 60mph.
Try rotating rear tires to the front and see if that helps… if it does then that means your tires need to be balanced again… if not, it could be your lower balljoints or inner/out tie rods.
Did you lower the suspension? If so how much? I have 100% new balljoints, bearings, bushings(all oem honda) and axles(DSS) but have a vibration like that when the car is realllly low.(retarded axle angles will cause this)
Low quality rebuilt axles will also cause that sorta vibration.
How would I check this? I replaced one wheel bearing a couple years ago

Car is lowered (2" or so on H&R Sports). The axle’s are not rebuild, 100% new Napa one’s.

Thanks guys! I will look into your suggestions. As for ball joints, I just replaced all of them, so I know they’re good. Tie rods are a couple years old, but visually they seem fine. Good call with the radius rods though, I’m using the accord adjustable one’s and the bolt max’s out my deep socket so they well could be a touch loose. I think I’ll cut off some end threads and clean up the threads with a die.
axles from napa suck… almost as crappy as autozones… should of spent the extra money and gotten your self some RAXLES axles… those are top quality… or HASPORt axles… sounds like your axles man… wheel bearings would make noise before they start causing vibration…
Most likely you may need an alignment. I’ve had that happen, it shook violently. When I got an alignment all was good. But I agree with everyone else, be sure you check all your bolts and connections.
i seen that you say you have, new tires…but i bought new tires once and 3 weeks later i had tread seperation and had a wobble between 20-50 mph… just a suggestion ! i got mine replaced for free from the place i bought them…
this thread has crappy aftermarket axles writen all over it. this is a very common problem. as stated earlier, look into raxles. my teggy’s ride was smooth as glass after installing some.
how come you’re not using DA torsion rods?
if those aren’t tight that’s a problem.
if you must use the accord ones, when you cut them, have the nut threaded on first. then after you cut, unthread the nut. that’ll clean off the end to ensure it threads on easily and straight
Another thing is that you said you got new tires all around… well if they aren’t balanced electronically, then most likely the tires are off balance thus leaving you a shake at 20-40 mph.
Unbalanced tires tend to shake at that certain range of mph. Hope this helps…
I put in brand new Hasport axles (Entry Level) and had the same thing… car would vibrate during acceleration between about 20-45, and a little bit while cruising on the freeway if I was at 70-75+ mph. But during normal city driving, there wasn’t any noticeable vibration. I swapped some rebuilt stock axles in, and problem went completely away. I’m going to send the Hasport axles back for replacements, but will probably just keep the rebuilt stock ones in, since they are working fine.
