Hey Neil, if you read this, please submit it in the Teg tips section…provided the information is even useful
CREDITS
Yup, must give props to the people that helped first.
LL Cool B - For providing his very own JDM 1pc headlight because I no longer have my Teg Oh yeah, if you are looking for JDM 1pcs., contact LL Cool B first before looking anywhere else!
N FUL FX - For still allowing me to hang around here even though I drive a Mazda now.
NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR
This comes up once in a while, and since I was helping out LL Cool B with his 1pcs, I figured I might as well take some photos. If you guys have better suggestions on properly aiming the lights, let me know. OR, post it yourself (with pics preferrably since “a picture is worth a 1000 words”).
TOOLS REQUIRED
- 1 Long and Thin Phillips Screwdriver #2…yup, that’s it.
INTRODUCTION
Task: Headlight Adjustment for JDM 1pc. headlights / Locating adjustment gears (for the people that use the SEARCH function…hehehe).
Difficulty: Easy
Cars Applicable: 90-93 Acura Integra (RS, LS, GS, GS-R) with Japanese Spec headlights. For the newbie: US and Canadian Integras do not come with JDM headlights as stock due to DOT (Department of Transportation) rules and regulations. Installing JDM headlights is considered a modification.
STEPS
Most of you were having trouble locating the adjustment gears and using the proper tool to turn them. So, rather than a step-by-step process which I normally do, here are a few pictorial references in order to help you locate and adjust the adjustment gears.
FIG. 1: THE MAIN LAYOUT
The pics below show the passenger side headlight. In Figure 1, I’ve shown you the back of the headlight. You normally don’t have this kind of access when it is installed in the car, but this will help you better as to which gears actually do what with the headlight.
I am 100% certain the main headlight gears are correct (ie. Main horizontal is left/right, vertical is up/down). However, the fogs are a little…“foggy”. I am only 80% certain that the top gear is horizontal and the bottom gear is vertical (this is because I never adjusted them). When LL Cool B and I took apart the headlight, I was able to peer inside and it looks to be correct, but I still have my doubts.
NOTE: Yes, there is a missing gear for the fog vertical adjustment. I don’t know why that is, but it should be there. So, just keep a mental note.

FIG. 2: Top View of Main Headlight Adjustment Gears
So, when you open up your hood and look at your beautiful 1pcs. from a bird’s eye view, these would be the locations of the main headlight adjustment gears.
Remember I told you to buy a Thin and Long Phillips Screwdriver? Well, the main vertical adjustment gear is the reason why that is. Nothing else will fit through that cone-shaped hole.

FIG. 3: Top View of Foglight Adjustment Gears
Again, if you open up your hood and look straight down on your 1pcs. beside the foglight, this is where the 2 adjustment gears will be located.

FIG. 4 & 5: How to Use the Phillips Screwdriver to Turn the Adjustment Gears
Alright, so now here is how you use the Phillips Screwdriver to turn the adjustment gears. Remember to use a Long and Skinny Phillips #2 (the pics below show a #2 Phillips, but it is too fat to fit inside the cone-shaped hole for the main headlight adjustment gear). So, simply turn the screwdriver in order to adjust the light. Simple, eh?

How Do You Aim It?
Here is an excerpt from one of my replies regarding aiming headlights. This can be found in the G2IC Arhives forum under “Aiming JDM headlights (ATTN LEIF)” originally posted by J-Spec. Remember, this is not the “be-all-end-all-answer” to adjusting headlights.
- Set the car level in front of a (preferrably white) wall about 25 ft. out. Also, it is preferrable you do this at night or in a very dark area.
- Mark where your knee is in reference to the wall. Or simply have someone else stand in front of the wall while you adjust the lights.
- When adjusting, the beam should be (approx.) 2" below your knee (or the other person’s knee).
- Go behind your car and eyeball the beam so that it is in line with the car.
You can do the same for the fogs, so that you can achieve a high beam affect. But it is recommended that you aim the fogs lower than the main light so that your vision is not impaired while driving through fog, snow, and/or rain.
One thing to remember, your knee should be level with the headlight. Otherwise, stand right in front of your headlight and mark where the headlight is level with your leg. Then, go to the wall, and where your mark is on your leg, the beam should be 2" below it. This should fix any problems if your car happens to be lowered than stock.
CONCLUSION
Well, that’s it for now. I hope I can post more Teg Tips regarding JDM 1pc. lighting (ahem…LL COOL B ), or any thing Teg related. If you cannot see the pictures, you can see the album from here:
If that does not work, feel free to email me at the_oz@hotmail.com Please put on the subject line: “Integra JDM 1pc. Headlight Adjustment” or something to that effect because I get a lot of junk mail.
