Hey Erwin! Things are well, keeping busy & working alot out here in LA. Thanks man! The DA has to stay clean, It’s been in the garage since the first picture on page 1. hahaha 2 or 3 years now it’s been parked. I’ve been keeping the battery charged though, gotta finish up some wiring, but it’s very much still driveable.
God damn it’s been a minute since I’ve seen this car or talked to Danny.
Car is fantastic and the crew UltraSpeed really takes me WAY back. Good stuff.
Things are doing great as well. My daughter pretty much keeps me occupied these days. My DA had been garaged all covered up the last 5 years or so. I fire it up once in a while. Must have put only 500 miles or less during that time frame hehehe. When you head up to NorCal next time let me know. Catch up on things.
That seems to be the trend that I never thought I’d fall into. I miss the days I used to drive this car every day, work, school, but never the mall or movies! When first moving to LA, friends out here told me not to bring it, yet I brought it, just to have it sit… I’ll eventually take it out again soon!
Maybe i’ll make it out to a JDM theory/fatlace/etc event out in the bay sooner or later if there’s a G2IC meet going on too. It’ll be a good time to catchup with alot of the guys I met through G2IC and get some good times in before I get married! hahaha
I’m sure in a couple years when that happens, it’ll be much more difficult to plan a weekend trip, with my car, to the bay area, to hangout and go to a car meet. hahahahaha
I love the new look of the 92-93 front bumper, and JDP CF lip along with the skirts, compared to before. It really cleaned up the look of the car. I have the old bumper hanging in my garage with some battle scars from auto-x & a track day. I have a 92-93 front bumper I thought I was going to paint and have it on as a daily, without the front lip. Now I have 3 bumpers… Great… hahaha
Sucks the first 5 minutes I was on the freeway with this setup, I cracked the lip…
The FAL glass I had on the CF hatch didn’t last long after several cracks were found, maybe half in inch long or so. Since then I transferred my GS-R glass from the old hatch I had, onto the CF one.
Congrats on getting married Kev!! Marriage is an awesome thing man.
So the story goes with Mango that I neglected it for a year, about 8 years ago, and it didn’t like it. Aside from basic oil changes I didn’t do much with it. So after that year things started to go, and I spent a tonne trying to fix the little creaks here and there over a span of about 4-5 years. Then, the chance came along where I had the opportunity to buy a new car, and if I didn’t do it I wouldn’t be able to afterwards, so I bought a MK6 GTI and retired Mango. GTI has a Stage 1 APR tune, 256hp. Loving it, but still missing Mango. I took it out 3 times since I retired it, once to remember and honor a fallen DA brotha (Erwin, did Chris (90_DA) sell you the rear visor? ), once just cuz I missed it so much and the wife was out of town, and once for a DA meet just a few weeks ago.
The plans were to take a break from Mango and then do a ‘fix’ (minimal upgrades, just wanted to get it running right) so that I can track the car, something I think the car needs…but now the wife and I are expecting a baby boy…so my only hope is to get my future son to carry on the MANGO legacy without my wife killing me/us…LOL
Sorry that was a quick reply while I was at work. Didn’t want the whole G2IC world thinking I was already married. hahaha
That sounds about the same thing that’s going on with my car too. Little by little more and more time apart from driving it. The biggest thing for me is getting it smogged every other year to keep tags on it. After 3 years of keeping it all current, I realized I don’t drive it enough to continue paying again and again. So I figured to pay the registration, but not get a smog. It doesn’t give me tags, but keeps registration payment current on it. Once I can plan out shows/events/etc to really take the car out, that’ll be the year I’ll get everything straightened up with it again. Wiring/change oil pan/basic maintenance. Doesn’t need much, But I’m sure to find more to do to it.
Like center my RS*R with the slot for the exhaust in the rear bumper. I’ll probably have to cut & weld after I make sure everything else is good. I’ve already welded up the mid pipe of the exhaust because it was starting to rust out down the seam of the piping.
Car looks great man! I haven’t been around as long as you guys but I defiantly love this car, been an inspiration for a long time, hopefully one day I can have my teg on this level.
