I just got in my tein basics today and was wondering if there is a step by step install guide anywhere? thanks.
First and foremost, Congratulations on getting a set of TEIN BASICS!! When you bought your TEIN did it come with a instruction manual?? If not, then remove you stock struts and springs. Before you put on your strut/spring make sure you adjust the ride height and measure from the bottom thread on the strut. Then from there just bolt it all together and reuse the tophats. If anyone else has better input please feel free to post. Thats pretty much what I did.
do i need a spring compressor or something?
unless u wanna get knocked out
Its definetely advised that you use a spring compressor but when I installed mine, I just had a friend step on the spring with a towel over the top nut and it came off just fine. Just be careful.
There’s 2 ways to do a spring uninstall. One is the right way. I’ll let you guys figure out what the other way is called.
The basics of the installation are:
Remove old suspension.
Remove top hat assembly.
Install top hat assembly onto Tein setup.
Install Tein setup.
how do i go about installing the top hats?
you just slide the top hat onto the shaft and put the washer then the nut and torque it down. same way as you took them off.
ok ok thanks, ill be putting em on in an hour or two with the help of a couple friends
ok so today we got the rears on and i set them to the reference settings in the tein booklet. Now there is about an inch left of threads to go, now can i lower it all the way? because before when i would do it the spring would just kinda be really loose and be able to move if i did that. Would this compress the shock or something so i can just move the two green things that set the height all the way to the bottom now? thanks fronts are going on tomorrow.
