TEIN Hood Damper

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has pics of their TEIN hood damper installed in their ride. Apparently I bought the TEIN hood damper for the S2000 since I saw it on one of the threads on here way in the past, but I am having some problems installing it on my DA. I tried searching and could not find any threads related to this subject. Please let me know.

Thanks

Bump - Anyone???

i believe DA hoods are heavier than S2k hoods…

Not sure if s2K hood is heavier. Just woondering if anyone here has put hood damper on their car yet and if so, do you have any pics. Thanks

i have some dampers of a toyota… i have to try it out… i hate the noise the freaking bar makes when driving…

DA hoods are much more heavier, btw.

would the hood damper from password work on our cars?

Has anyone does this on their ride? Please let me know. Thanks

i just put some hood dampers on now. got them off ebay for 70$ shipped to canada. only problem i encounted so far is the body of the damper is hitting the fender causing the hood to leave a gap when closed on the side. im going to cut part of the stock bracket to let more room for the damper bracket and it should all work out. ill post pics once i do that.

redtegra - please post pics when finished with yur install. would like to see. thanks

let me know if anyone puts hood dampers on a da with abs

what would the abs change?

there is some lines right next to the strut. it kinda blocks it off thats why theres 2 diffrent types of bars abs and non abs

Um…Your thinking of the wrong thing there buddy.

They are talking about Hood Struts…The are like mini shocks that hold the hood open…Just like your hatch.

You are thinking of a strut tower bar.
This ties the struts towers together…

Thanks for the clarification Gen2ITR.

Still need pics please.

I got the Sokei Tech kit from ebay too. Yeah the side of the hood bracket needs to be cut to allow the shock bracket to sit more to the inside. I haven’t cut mine yet. Just been too busy at the moment with other stuff. Only once side of the hood sits up a little. But I can push it down at that spot and it’s almost sits flush again. I’ll probably cut those brackets tonight. I’ll try to get some pics and post them up tomorrow.

yep got the same problem with the same kit. i was thinking of just threading in a ball into the stock bracket like the fender ones instead of cutting the stock bracket and installing the one from the kit.

Ok well I took the hood off and cut the bracket. The only problem with that is that it now rubs on the inside edge of the hood more. That is basically what was holding the hood up in the first place. So I have to move the bracket out a little. So it’s bacially in the middle from where it first sat, to where it would sit with the bracket cut away allowing it more room. Then I just took a ball peen hammer and hammered the edge of the hood support down where it was hitting. It looks better. But I think it is still touching part of the hood support.

I’ll go snap some pics.

Pics.

I might mess around with the adjustment some more. Maybe move the bracket out back a bit.

Here’s the gap on the driver side. Not really noticable. It was worse. Passenger side is about the same and was the same before. So no change on the passenger side.

  • Don’t mind the bumper. My 92-93 bumper is at the body shop getting repainted.

Hammered hood support. You can see the black marks where it was rubbing. And the rub mark where I haven’t hammered it in yet.

And the cut hood bracket.

i just finished installing mine and it came out perfect! instead of cutting the stock bracket like i was gonna do originally, i picked up another pair of ball joints like the ones for the fender with threads. i drilled and tapped the oem hood hinge and installed the new ball joint. makes it look a lot cleaner instead of that bracket they give you in the kit. that fixed the problem of the damper hitting the fender. then i bent the arm of the damper a little because it was hitting the hood still. now my hood closes perfectly and it doesn’t rub anywhere.

ill take pics later on.
