temp guage not workin

My temp gauge hasnt been working for a while now… So when i blew up my a1 i rebuilt a b1 motor and all the sensors were new. So i assumed my temp gauge would work but it doesnt. Was thinkin of using an aftermarket temp gauge but was wondering if there is a good way to test the temp gauge… Thanx

i believe these read cold with high resistance. possibly open circuit. check the connector. because of its location, it’s susceptible to damage from oil and other contaminates.
you can voltage drop test the wire. that would be the most efficient way of testing, after a thorough visual inspection

ok cool thanx for the advice

I have the same problem where I have replaced the switch by the distributor and the one in the thermostat. It still doesn’t work. How would I do a voltage drop test to test it out? What do you mean by that? Thanks

use a paper clip and short the single pin connector to ground. see if the gauge goes full hot. this tests the circuit up to the sender

so just stick a paper clip in the clip and ground it? Is that what you mean?

yep

Okay I will give it a try today or tomorrow. What does it mean if the gauge works?

it means everything but the sender, or connection to it, is working at the time of testing
