Test Pipe Help....Yes I searched!

I know this is probably a n00b question but I need a little help…I have a DC Sports 4-2-1 Ceramic Header and a GReddy SP2 Catback Exhaust. I want to get a test pipe but I’m not sure as to what size that I need. I had originally purchased an Omni Power 2-1/2" Test Pipe and it DOES NOT FIT, So I know that I need something smaller(2-1/4" maybe?). What test pipes are a good choice to go with? Emissions is not a concern.

emissions may not be a concern of yours but after this your hearing will be…

??

it WILL be loud as hell

after a while you will be annoyed. lol

Noise doesnt bother me. I’ve driven loud Honda/Acuras for quite some time. Any suggestions or options that I should go with?

if you have a stock cat laying around measure the inside diameter and go off of that.

i know the stock collectors are 1 7/8" ID from what i remember so the 2 1/4 would probably fit.

really? damn, i just bought a test pipe…2.5". I’m running a rs*r catback and comptech header…hope it’s not too loud…

Although driving around in a loud Acura/Honda doesnt bother you, it may bother the cops in your area. I dont know about South Carolina, but here in Cali, people get popped just about everyday for “Modified Exhaust”. Running that set up with a T-pipe is really loud the feeling is great but good luck to you bruddah!:salute:

Cops for the most part around here arnt that bad about modified cars. If I lived anywhere else I would probably get raped by cops. I cant imagine what yall must go through out in CA…How do yall get away with even fix’n up cars out there. It sounds like they hound yall about everything you do to a car.

I had buddies in SC that would drive around with straight headers out the hood of the trucks.

I’ve been to Cali once, Everything was quiet as hell.
It was weird, seeing modified exhausts, but barely hearing them.
The only thing loud was like Harley’s.

You could always try an Ebay high flow cat. It’s like a resonator w/ flanges.

thise things are loud! no joke! not to mention the fire hazard that it creates. running open headers, that is. do test pipes have any type of flame arrestors in them? i am assuming that they don’t…

i have a test pipe on mine mated to a RSR exmag and a megan header and its not loud at all. if he has the Greddy SP2 then it should sound fairly similar to mine. i had the resonated testpipe thing from ebay on it but it blew apart and the welds so i made a tpipe out of a 18" 2 1/4" pipe at school one day. i would say your average honda with just a fart can is louder than my car with the catback/testpipe/header.

oh wait,

i confused a test pipe with a straight pipe… still learning this import stuff. keep associating things with hotrods…

just get a high flow cat… same thing as a test pipe

or to be REALLY ghetto, just take your stock cat and hollow it out? Thats what i did with my exaust and it makes it quite a bit louder after 4k. and hey if you dont like it buy a quality one.

yeah cops are really gay here about exhausts, but i have a friend running a test pipe. Do they actually help any? I think they sound like shit with them:bang:

I had thought about gut’n my cat but I have heard that it can put alot of trash in your exhaust…if nothing else I may just do that. I’m not really concerned about noise level, smog, or how it sounds. I’m only want’n it done to free up my exhaust a little more and possibly make a couple more hps even though I know that its going to be minimal.

a stock cat w/ extension before the exhaust manifold flange to flange is 23 1/4 inches long…since you’re using parts made for your year car you should just be able to order a Megan Racing or Omni-Power test pipe straight up. I’m using a GSR manifold so I had to modify mine a bit and weld a different flange on the end that connects to the exhaust manifold…good luck.

get a high flow cat, save your ears and the environment a little. there is virtually NO performance advantage to a test/straight pipe over a high flow cat.
