The integra that started it all

Whats up G2IC?? New to the site and thought i’d share my short story!

A couple years back my brother traded his work truck for a DA integra, and i thought he was the biggest dumbass for having to work out of the integra, and trying to mod a Honda… Boy was I wrong. I never liked the car the whole time he had it, i thought it was the biggest pos ever lol. And one day someone ran a red light and t-boned him. It totaled his car and he found out it had a salvage title, and the car place he got it from never told him about it. Instead of them going to court over it, they decided to give him there other Integra, which was a 97 and in much better shape then his old beat up 93’ da. Well i had just happen to be in the market for a good car, and i wanted to learn how to drive stick, and i got hookup pricing so i scooped it up from him.

This car was my baby. It was my first Honda. I babied this car. I had alot of heart and soul, and time and money into this car. I had some pretty big plans for it as well. It had some sentimental value to me and my brother enjoyed watching this car slowly come together. One weekend i drove stayed at my brothers house. He woke me up at 4am that sunday morning to tell me someone had hit my car. Sadly he was right, a drunk driver had drilled it. :violin:

It took alot out of me. I didn’t know where to start again. I couldn’t find another DC i liked with the insurance money i had gotten. A couple of weeks had gone by and I still didn’t have a car. I was tried of bummin rides from friends, and I came across a pretty good deal on a DA and I jumped on it!

The car didn’t look this good when I first got it. It was dirty as shit and the front bumper was primered black. I painted that, and sold the si’s it came on and put on my si’s off of my DC. To tell you the truth. I didn’t even like the car at first when i bought it. I kinda regretted it. But now im happy with my purchase and got some plans for this teg. I only paid $1500 for it so i think i got it for a steal.

DAs arent just another integra, their one of a kind. im very open minded about cars. ive driven a whole bunch of different cars and enjoyed them but when it comes to getting behind the wheel of a DA, its just a whole nother story. clean DA ! whats the plans for it ?

sounds somewhat like my story! except my brother had a ej, dc2, dc5 then a a4 quattro. and i found my DA under a tree! and the day after i finished all my body work and priming for paint. BAM. tboned. so i bought another shell. sense my motor is probably the cleanest b18a with 226,000 miles on it

thanks guys, and that sucks man! id be pissed, i was too when mine got totaled, but better than fallin a victom of a theif. I got some big plans for mine. First things first is suspension. I alread have my skunk2 pro series front camber kit, next im getting the rear and fixing my camber problem. At the same time i get my camber kits installed i’ll be putting on new skunk2 struts and springs, a beaks lower arm bar, function lower control arms, an asr subframe brace, and probably a new sway bar with new end links. I’ll finish up with front and rear strut tower bars, and some new tires and a alignment

After that im going to have it repainted. The car is championship white, and i’ll have it redone that same color. I’ll put a carbon fiber hood on it, and some mirros and probably call it a day, maybe a lip but not sure. Also, i got the 90-91 all clear tails i’ll be putting on soon.

When it comes to the motor and tranny im gonna strap in a D16Y8… lol jk im gonna get a HMO GSR swap, hopefully a JDM swap but if not then its all good. Gonna do Skunk2 internals and keep it NA. I’ll do intake, header, exhaust… basics, clean up the bay a tad and probably end it there. It would be nice to swap a k series in there, but not likely i will, i had a k20 EG hatch before and it was fast as shit, but the swap is just too much. After im done building it i might try and sell it, or trade it… I really want a ITR now, but its nice having the DA. You don’t see that many of them around here, and i get people trying to buy it off of me and giving me compliments all the time. My brothers DA was the first Honda id ever been in where the driver was puttin there foot in it. Then i had my turn in my DC, and now this… Also, the same si rims that are on my DA, came off my DC, which came off of my brothers old DA. So theres some sentimental value to it. Just hope people will stop driving drunk!

woo, slow down there… is this da an rs? black sidemirrors… which is it, im very curious… when u do wanna sell it hit me up man i’d be the first to come down and get it, don’t care if motor is swapped or not (prefer the orginal) but yeah, if u gonna sell it anytime soon hit me up, a year later hit me up, SERIOUSLY. shit i’d love a none rusted da white is fine but i wish it was red. lol.

Good choice!! In my opinion the DA looks much better than the DC. I drove around a k swappd DC k20/k24 for a couple years. Still love my DA more and handles amazing on the track. :smiley: Good luck on the build!

lol its a gs, and what had happened was the guy i got it from pissed of his gf, and she smashed his mirrors, and headlights, so he got brand new headlights, and some other mirrors, and i’ll let you know!

thanks, lol the k20 civic was a beast, but not pratical as a daily driver. This DA sits in the garage, 5 out of 7 days of the week. I love this car, but my dream car is a ITR but i wanna have some fun with this DA first

this weekend, but in my dc, not the da… Da still needs new tires, and a rear camber kit. I got the front already, but need a rear bad. lol i’ll def. let you know cause i still wanna do that shoot!

lol. and if ur gonna do a swap, do the jdm obd1 gsr with cable to hydro conversion and lsd tranny! if you do that i’d be down there in a heartbeat! hahaha!

lol my plans exactly! a jdm gsr 97 spec i believe with the tranny conversion

just fyi man, if you go with the hydro conversion…the hasport kit makes your clutch pedal extremely stiff. I hated mine when I first got the car but after awhile I got used to it and I actually perfer the stiff pdeal over the soft.

me too, i love a stiff clutch. I hate it when it feels like your steppin on dog shit… lol

i like both, for a daily driver soft clutch is the way to go. racing stiff is the best. idk about the hydro to conversion kit though… people say they feel nasty and weird and doesnt make it feel like hydro at all. the reason i’d put it on is cuz the tranny that comes with the engine. don’t want the beautiful gsr engine then hold it back with the long geared ls tranny! wat a waste. but yeah it’ll take time to get used to.

that’ll be obd2a. i used to think that obd1 went from 92-97 tegs. but after doing a little needed research i fould that 92-95 is obd1 96-97 is obd2a and 98-01 is obd2b.
i don’t know if u’d still want to sell it after u swap it. lol. it’s gonna be a beast!
