Hello all. It has been quite a while since I made a long post like this, but without further a due, here it is.
This is my 1991 Integra GS. I have had this car for almost 10 years now, and it is rolling up on 20 years itself right around the corner. It was my second vehicle I have owned, and to date the most fun. It has been out of commission for almost 2 years, and finally got it running again. Now that I recently purchased a house, and got my garage set up the way I wanted it, I thought I might give my integra a little cleaning. One thing lead to another, and now I have started a LARGE project.
Even though I am going to have the car repainted, it won’t be until I am done with the motor swap and more, so I just want to get it in better condition, so I am still proud of the car, even before the new paint job. Plus it makes great practice.
Not too bad from far away, but up close swirls and oxidation.
And chips and scratches.
A chip that I had previously just put some touch-up paint on. I plan on doing the touch-up sand, touch-up, sand, touch-up, sand buff buff buff method.
The interior is a little dirty from sitting for 2 years without a cleaning. (even though it was garaged w/ a car cover.)

I started in the engine compartment
I had been removing items so I could get a full clean, so I decided to remove the headlights to give it a good scrub.
In the process, looking better.
One thing leads to another, I take the bumper support, and fender off, and find small items I want to restore by hand.
I also cleaned the inside of the fender you will never see. And I do have new fender linings but I don’t want to replace them until the car has been repainted.
Removed as much over spray from the fender lining as possible, and then dressed the fender lining on the topside w/water based dressing 1:1
I gave it a second coat of Megs Water Based Dressing.
After I washed every area I could find, I re-installed the fender
Then gave it a quick wipe with some LTD. Not too worried about it right now since I will be doing the polishing a bit later.
And it was just supposed to be a quick detail. HA!!! man this is going to be a project.
I finished the engine by portion, I will have pics up tomorrow probably.

jdm_db2608 - Yes Spun SUPAMESH, these are the very first green set that were sold. When I owned my shop I picked these up from the dealer, and they just happened to be the very first green set, and only green set for about 2-3 months after. But I already have new wheels for the car, they are sitting in the garage, i’ll get you guys a little teaser.
Andy - I was already in the works of getting this thing running, it just finally all came together, and since I have a daily, I can tear this thing apart again, now that it just started running after 2 years of sitting.

Alright so the last couple of days I have been cleaning up the DA, and trying to get it registered again. I finally finished getting it smogged. Here was my journey along the way.

It took me about a day and a half (not working 100% of the time) to finish the cleaning of the engine bay, bumper support area, and under the fenders. You would be amazed at how many leaves, twigs and dirt you will find in there.
Here is what the car looked like after I gave it a quick wipe down after I was done spattering dirt all over the fenders.
So far I only did about 1/3 of the underside of the hood.
I went and picked up some parts that were being stored at my moms before I bought my house. I think this needs a little cleaning.

I went out and adjusted the fitment of the hood. But really all you can tell from this picture is that I need to spend less time typing, and more time polishing.
Brought the car into the garage and spent some time figuring out what my detailing process will be. VERY HAZY
With a side of extra hazy.
I decided to start a testing spot, so I cleaned and clayed half of the hood. Honestly I thought the clay would look a lot worse. I love the process of detailing, because if you pre-test your products to make sure you will get the results you want. Feel the side you started with, and then the finished side. It gives me a great feel of accomplishment.
Half washed and clayed, the other half nothing.
Then I built a square on 1/3 of the cleaned side, and tried 2 different methods.
- m205 on a polishing pad
- m105 on a polishing pad (which will be followed by m205 on a polishing pad.)
Reults (the square was left alone for comparison, I polished on the sides of the square.) Please excuse the lame pictures, I was about 30 seconds from running out of sunlight.

m105 on polishing pad - Much better, but I think I will have to use m105 on a cutting pad followed by m205 on a polishing pad for the results I am looking for.
That’s about as far as I have gotten since the last update. And for some reason I can’t find any final engine pictures, I will have to take some again tomorrow I suppose.
I’m sure you guys could care less about this detailing crap that you will never see, so what do you say we get to the good stuff. What you are really looking for. Here is my Costco shelf of DA parts. (I am going to buy another one to hold more of my DA parts tomorrow)

Clean bumper, switch OE lip from other bumper, then install on car.
Excuse the dirt, my mom lives in the desert, and even though everything was in a garage, the garage was almost worse than just digging a hole in the backyard to hide everything in.
The Honda Santa, we;ll just call him Sonda for short.
