**The official DB1 thread! pictures, advice, tips, etc..! (4dr's part 4!)**

oh okay lol, looks good

killahteg: looks good dude. how much did you pay for it? Finally another member with a sick ass db1 with the best g2 colour ever. Nice 13inch aluminums on the rear… looks like they’re off an 86 prelude lol. did it come with a complete set of the c8’s? what are you doing to it right now? post more pictures!!

updates on my db1 at the shop:

i’ll be stopping again tomorrow at the shop for more pictures… the whole car will be completely repainted instead of the first half of the car (rear half was painted earlier in the year). everything will be colour matched except the mudgaurds… can’t wait!

looks like the prep work is good! keep taking pics of the process

mdt115- wow that paint job is gonna come out amazing. as for my new db1, it isnt all that great. needs new hood, trunk and front fenders. besides that its alright. one thing that really pisses me off about it is on the drivers side under the doors. seems like some one tried to lift it up from the wrong spot and bent the damn thing. i dont know if im keeping the shell. i want a cleaner shell…

killahteg: Does the door not close properly? When i first got my db1, my problems were worse than yours. The top of the windshield was so rusted that water dripped from the inside… so basically all around the whole windshield was f*cked. The rust on both rear quarter panels were so shot, that the bumpers didn’t have anything to hold on to… and the rear lid was rust eaten around the keyhole and A emblem… both rear doors had rust hardcore underneath the mouldings. The motor ran strong as up to this day, it still isn’t burning any oil… so it was just the shell that gave me problems. I still got that passenger leak thing that i got lazy to fixing over the summer, so now water collects in the blower underneath the dash. My rad right now is also shot as there’s about 3 hairline cracks where you pour in the fluid… both cv joints are messed and my gastank leaks gas past quarter tank… my master cylinder is also shot as the brake pedal sinks to the floor when i slow down…

With all these problems, i managed to fix the exterior first, then worry about all the other stuff hehehe

If anything, i’ve got more problems than you mechanically.

Here are some more shots for your viewing pleasure. The prepping is all done and will be painted first thing tomorrow morning. I should have the car back by the weekend.

argh imageshack is giving me problems i’m ready to throw my ibook out the window…

will post more later!

Remove license plate and mud gaurds… then paint.

To do it correctly you would remove the moldings, window trim… pretty much everything that you dont want to paint…

Looking great fellas…Good to see that the DB1z are still looking great. I will post pics of my DB1 soon for all of you to see what I have done with her.

mdt115 that looks rally good, cant wait to see pics of it painted

DarkDB1: you are absolutely correct. That is the way I would like it to be done. Beggars can’t be choosers because after all, this isn’t costing me a penny. You don’t know how bad i wanted it to be done the right way. But I simply don’t have enough cash to front out to have it done the right way… especially with all the clips that would break behind the mouldings and trim. Rear lights are stuck on because the previous owner had them cemented on (stupida). But hey, i can’t complain cuz it’s free right? and free is good!

RedLine: haven’t heard/seen from you in awhile… what’s the surprise?

the tape covering the rear lip will also be painted…

Wow, I’m envious. I’d love to get my car repainted someday. This is the begining of what I have to look forward to until next spring…I don’t mind the cold in winter it’s the damn snow and crap.

^^^ yo was that picture recent? do you have any rust anywhere…?

Took that picture yesterday just before I left work to go home (I was bored). There are some rust spots but mostly minor. The only spot that bugs me most is on the driver’s side passenger door that started off as a door ding. The spot is about the size of a twoonie and the paint is peeling off. I can blame my kid for that one.
If this were a picture of my door, the bodywork would have covered it up perfectly:

ahhh… 4dr gotta love’em … I no longer have mine

I am still around…

LOL

ralph., stock lip wit thin side mouldings FTW…slam the bitch some more now

looking great ralph!!

I’ve noticed that everyone who was sporting the typeR lip is now sporting the oem lip…

I am only sporting the OEM Lip for now. The Type R Lip is in the garage just waiting to be put on…After she comez out of the mechanic shop soon…Like in a month or so.

KillahTeg…Hope all is well with you man…I feel the same about the COLD Weather. Even though I don’t have to worry about OverHeating when it is cold out…hehehehe…I can’t DROPP her more man, I am already so near the ground it is not even funny. That pic I took of that refflector thing on the HighWay, I worry about those thing now, I can emagine how much more I would worry if I slammed her some more…LOL

Be safe fellas…And try to keep WARM.

hey ralph. good to see some new pics of the car. it’s looking better than ever. how’s the turbo holding up? overheating in your climate is nothing to worry about. when it’s -30C up here, you have to worry about the motor freezing - yes freezing as in the coolant and oils freezing solid if you let it sit too long.
I can’t remember if I’ve posted this pic up before but here’s a few pictures :

Just waiting for fuel supply components (injectors and fuel rail) and a few coolant hoses and it’ll be close to ready. I’m gonna try rebuilding the tranny too before final install.

Nice pics Redline…nice and shiney!

haha. ralph when i go downthere. i will show you slammed…for now just hang on lol…

frozenrice-i thought u were building a gsr?
