Tonight marks the end of an ERA. Mango has officially retired. I may have a chance to have some spare cash, and this is probably my only opportunity to buy a new car. Hence, that is what I am going to do if everything works out!
BUT!
Mango will forever be mine. It’s sitting in my parents garage, and hopefully I will have some time to fix it up for track some day. But for now, I need a break and there are other priorities to worry about for the time being.
I’m actually glad to hear you’re gonna let her rest for awhile Max, taking care of these cars becomes a full time job if you’re driving it all the time. Giver her a break, get into a fun/practical daily and when the time is right you’ll come back to the DA with a new vision and an open heart. Trust me, when you’ve got a different daily, driving the DA will put a HUGE smile on your face on those days you decide to take her for a cruise or on those weekends you take it to the track and try to scare the crap out of yourself… I’m like a kid again whenever I get in mine, it’s a great feeling which I had lost when I was driving the car everday.
Good luck man. I was in the same position about 4 years ago. As much as I love the DA I had to get something more reliable and presentable for everyday and what not. Bought an RSX-S in 06 then added a VW R32 in 08 (which the wife stole from me…technically it’s no longer mine). The VW is a totally different driving experience, all the torque is just something else. Keep in mind though, it cost a lot to mod VW! Lucky the wife took the R32 or else I would be so deep in this game again. After all that I am now driving my DA almost everyday to work again and yet still making 2 car payments =(.
I can totally agree with you on that. When you get to choose when you get to drive it and not forced to drive it everywhere it totally changes everything. Ever since I got a daily teggys been a lot different to me. haha
i say we honor max(like the og that he is) and esp for how much this guy has and still contributes to this site. since his car is now retired. A pic of mango should be shown on the front page of the site or we should ask neil to make a page on the site for reitred or fallen da’s.
