I have an nx1600 digital cluster. I was thinking of trying to fit it into the da, but I’m curious on your thoughts.
If the nx1600 cluster works in a s14, and s2k cluster works in an s14, and an integra, then an nx1600 should work in an intergra… right? lol
Now I don’t know the specifics yet for the retro fit of the clusters in the different cars, but if there are no modifications to the sending units, that should mean they work the same…
If they are not the same in the way they read information and display it incorrectly, would anyone know what kind of place could modify it? My heart is set on something digital and something different than the s2k cluster. lol
First off, research the S2k cluster swap and see what all it takes. Better yet, research the nx1600 swaps you are finding… they may require different means than the Honda setup.
Custom bezel and fitment, Speedo-healer, etc… there are a few boxes you need to convert signals to get their values to display properly.
Just because it fits in an S14 doesn’t mean it will fit a G2. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but when both require a custom bezel and mounting hardware, they are a bit different.
I will do that. I’m not worried about mounting and fitting it at the moment, I will work that out when the time arrives, it is similar enough in shape to the g2 cluster.
For now, I’m hoping to find more detailed information about the differences between the tach drives and vss’. The rest I think will be fairly easy to work out. If I can adapt the tach drive and vss or use the original Honda electronic ones, it should go smoothly. I’ve found diagrams and pinouts of the nx1600 cluster, and have a complete donor nx1600 across the road that I will strip the sensors from Monday. And start into my research.
If it ends up being something feasible, I will post a detailed write up.
Btw, I got the cluster for $10, so if it doesn’t work out at least I can sell it for some profit lol
I think I’ve got most of the wiring figured out… but the only thing I don’t know about yet is installing the e-vss… I can only find one write-up for the ap1 swap, does anyone know of any other? I can’t even find one for the dc swap. Or have any info about wiring in the e-vss?
So, I’ve figured out what is needed for the e-vss. I have my wiring for the clusters just about figured out. I plan to use the speedohealer v4, and if possible the temperature sensor off of the nx, otherwise, I’ll adapt it to work one way or another. For fuel… I am just going to see how that turns out, it shouldn’t be far off. It will be around 5 weeks before I do start though, I need to order the vss and speedohealer… After I pick up my b20 lol
