throwout bearing goin.....

Actually I think they said the input shaft bearing is inside the trans itself. You see the throwout bearing in the clutch housing…

correct, the input shaft bearing that makes the “gravel” noise is inside the tranny. If you want to change it, you will need to disassemble the trannny

alrite well i told my mechanic that i needed to have the input shaft bearing installed to along with my clutch kit and he said ok cool thats only a 5 minute extra job. and hes been workin with cars for 20 years now. so i then said but i was told it was in the tranny and he said that another bearing that i wanted to replace was in the tranny housing. so i’m going on wat a 20 year mechanic told me.

Well obviously he is not a Honda mechanic. Since he doesn’t know where it is, and make sure you get a written quote.

i wouldn’t get it from the gsr. i’d get it from a 99 civic si maybe? both b16’s. anyway, what do you guys mean by a “gravel” noise. i have 143k miles on mine and when there is pressure on the clutch when i’m letting out in first there seems to be a grinding noise and speeds up as the wheels turn faster. doesn’t do it when pushed in. doesn’t do it when the clutch is out. do i have the same problem? (i’m actually thinking about just going ahead and getting the xsi motor because there is so much i have to replace).
