How do these thrust bearings go in exactly?
If I am correct; they sit on top of the crankshaft- between rods 3 and 4-one on the 3-side and other on the 4-side- outside of the crankshaft journals- grooved side away from the journals. If any of that makes sense…
The service manual I have and Chiltons do not have good diagrams… I put them in wrong…
Does anyone have a good diagram or picture? Or a good description?
Thanks in advance.
Here you go for a pic, you can see the grooved area for the thrust washer on where the #4 main goes … they’re hard to install wrong, clarify the question? Sounds like you have the right idea.

thanks
Thanks!
I did put them in wrong. Dropping the oil pan and stuff tomorrow put them in right.
I hope there isn’t damage or minimal damage. I didn’t pay attention when disassembling and they fell out. I guessed when putting them in. I feel like an idiot…
Yes, the grooved side of the thrust washers face away from the main journal where they are seated.
