ticking noise from crank pulley

I have a 92 gsr it stated tiking one night so i jus drove it home the next day i took it to work so i could take a look at wer the noise was coming from and it was coming from behind the crank pulley so as i was taking bak to the lot the car made a weird noise and cut off i tunred it bak on wit hesitation and the oil light came on so i jus pushed it the rest of the way …i got the feeling my oil pump went out bjt not too sure havent touch da car sinnce dnt have time but will be getn to it soon …thanks guys for the help and advice in advance

did you check to make sure you have oil?

Yea oil level is at specs

I would safely and with caution use a stethoscope to narrow the source of the noise if you are not certain of where the sound is coming from. All indication seem to point to the oil pump. Starting the car may not be the best idea if that is the case. It’s a job, but IMO it would be worth changing the oil pump and the water pump.

instead of using a stethascope first i would plumb a pressure gauge in and make sure that I had oil pressure. If i had an oil pressure issue I wouldnt risk my engine on trying to narrow down a noise when the car is already giving you the clues neccasary to check a possible problem
