Hey guys, got an alignment the other day and it still swerves to the left when i drive…the guys said my outer tie rods need to be replaced…my steering response isnt all that great so i beleive em…my question is how to i inspect the things? What should i look for to know they are bad? I took a look at em and i can turn them left and right pretty easy…couldnt see the boot though…aso does anyone know where to get the ball joint remover they use in the helms manual, that would make it a lot easier to do…thx guys!
lift up the car, so the two front tires are off the ground. shake ur tire back and forth, left and right, and if there is slack, somethings shot. if u can move ur tire alll around with slack, bearings are bad. if its just the top, upper ball joint. bottom, lower ball joint. left and right only means tie rods.
So they did your alignment and charged you for it when they found a bad tie rod??
That isnt right. They should have put your car back on the ground when they found a bad tie rod and told you to fix it before they even touched anything.
I hate shady shops.

yea i know…$66 bucks for nothing but telling me i had bad tie rods, shocks, and rear brakes…i doubt they even did the alignment after they saw the tie rods were shot…i hate large chain tire stores (tires plus)
u went to tires plus??? man! i work there! they shouldn’t be like that, at least where i work. they just pull the car in, check the front end, and if balljoints or tierods are shot, they just pull the car right out and say have a nice day. go back and bitch at them! if ur tie rods were loose, then the alignment could change at anytime, and it wouldn’t be accurate. keep bitching and bitching and they will refund u.
