I just inspected my entire belt and it looks flawless. I have 60k miles since the last belt change. Is there really any need to change it now?
hmm i forgot how many miles for that schedule maintenance. but if its time to change it. i think u should just change it. u cant really tell if its worn unless u see little cracks on it. but when its time for it to snap. its just going to snap. better to change it at the time your suppose to.
did you take the belt off and inspect it or just a visual while it was on? There maybe cracks in between the teeth and if you had it that far, might as well replace it. Just because it isnt thin doesnt mean you shouldnt replace it
It is recommended that you change it somewhere between 60-75k miles. Even if it looks good doesnt mean that it wont break on you and considering a broken timing belt could cost you an engine, it is definately worth doing.

Not to break everyone of the whole 60k thing cause that is a great safeguard but TECHNIICALLY…and i do stress that it should be done before this…the helms factory service manual says 90k. Little high for my liking. But that’s what the book says.
any tips on how to change it?
Honda used to recommend 90k for the belt but revised that some years ago. Since the Helm manual was prolly published during the 90-93 time frame, I’d call Acura or Honda for the latest info. At 60k I’d be gettin ready to replace belt, pump and tensioner with OEM stuff. I had a non-OEM pump self-destruct and take out the non-OEM belt on my '89 Civic Si at 27k! I got lucky, NO DAMAGE. Never again (I hope).
I bought my teg with 180 thou on the odometer. The belt had 40 thou on it.I did’nt change mine until 272 thou.I would’nt suggest that anyone do that, but it gave me some peace of mind knowing that they can last that long.Be sure and get a factory replacement!

Im going through some timing belt issues right now as well BUT if you get a cheepy t-belt they are rated to last 60k however a honda certified belt will last 90k. My car has 150k on it now and im going on my 3rd belt.
Anyway i thought since this is sorta the same topic i would post in here. I need some feedback on any parts i missed, i need to change all my mounts and the drive and timing belts. So far his is the list of parts please let me know if i missed anything
