timing belt tensioner spring

ok, i took out my tensioner and noticed a spring hanging on the cover after i did it…and i know it goes to the tensioner, can someone please tell me where to put the spring or a picture would be great…
also i got a shop to loosen my crank pulley bolt and i had to tighten it to get it to tdc…my timing belt is off…i tightend it a bit to much now i can’t get that bass back off…a strap wrench is useless…it just slips…so what can i do to stop it besides going out and buyiing a $60 morroso tool or a impact wrench…a mechanic told me you can take out the starter and see the flywheel and put a big screwdriver in there to hold the gears is this true? I know the bolt doesn’t need that much tourque to be free but that thing just turns…any help is appreciated…thanks!

There’s a little metal piece sticking out, above and towards the front (exhaust port side) of the motor … maybe an inch or so away … to get it back on, install the tensioner, and then pull the spring up over this piece (flat-head screwdriver helps).

As for the crank pulley bolt, this sucks. Hehe … how did you get it too tight? Since it’s fairly loose tho, the screw-driver in the starter hole should work … another area to try that is on the flywheel cover plate (remove it) and the flywheel is exposed there too … whichever is easier to remove for you.

Watch that the cam gears don’t slip on you too (do you have 8mm pin punches in there?)

well first of all my car is an auto so is the flywheel cover still gonna be there or not? if so where is it exactly?
alsothe cam gears don’t matter cause my timing belts off em but they are at TDC…

One more question…does the number 1 cylinder go to TDC the sam time as #4 and #2 the same time as #3? just curious

actually what i should say is, does #1 PISTON go up the same time as #4 and #2 the same as #3

Yes. But to get it back in time you need to put #1 at TDC which means the arrows that say “UP” on the cam gears are pointing up and the 2 notches in the gears will be facing each other and lined up with the mark on the back timing cover.

here ya go… and yes the pistons movement you describe is correct.
