I just got done doing a little bit of body work. i used the blue bondo (just till i can afford a new door and fender) But i have a question. How do I clean my plastic putty knives. I am no stranger to bodywork/bondo, but what is the best solvent for bondo? any? any that wont leave a oily residue on my tools?
In the past, i always wait till theyre dry, when im done using them, and just flake it off. It is time consuming. Any suggestions?
just make sure after u lay the bondo down to clean off everything it should just wipe off with a paper towl and if there is stilll more i ususally just use some liquid soap and rub it off and do like u said and scrape it
couldnt have said it better myself but seriously STAY AWAY FROM BONDO.
if your gonna use anything in a store bought can use the fibreglass one, it doesnt crack
what are you talking about stay away from bondo your’e only supposed to use an eighth of an inch anyways so the only way it will crack is if you hit it hard with somthing but fiberglass will do that too if you get in a wreck
i dont like to use bondo. I HATE the stuff, but im prepping my car for paint, even though it wont be painted for another month. Im keeping it in black primer, so untill i can get a door and fender in decent condition, ill make it look decent with a little bondo
bondo should come off the spreader just leave it clumped on it and break it off…DONT wipe it with a paper towel its just gonna be a pain to get the little stuff off.
its not hard to get a good finish with bondo its just the grit paper and 2k primar its just alot of prep work… i work at a shop myself and the only time i would use dura glass is when im shaving the doors and thats only the first coat to fill any little wholes i missed…
im not goin to argue with you about this but i use bondo all the time in my class and several times on my car and it just wipes right off the spreader so maybe youve mixed it wrong or somethin you have to do it before it dries too but you are right about the finish with bondo its alot easier than fiberglass
