just wondering what tools i need to make the job easier. or tools i realllly need to do the job at all? so please post up and help out
hmm i think all u need is some socket sets and a torque wrench or something like that for the belt. i dont know though i never done it before.
yea i heard you need a special tool for the crank pulley, to hold it in place? and not to get one that uses a chain??
You will need…
ratchets
10, 12, 14, 17, 19mm sockets
extensions for ratchets
drain pan for coolant from water pump
set of metric box wrenches
hondabond
timing light
I think thats about it.
You dont really need the crank pulley tool if you have a compressor handy. Just hit that sucker with an impact gun and that should do you well. Just make sure the gun you are using has a LOT of torque in reverse.
I am probably missing a couple things. If I am someone will mention it.

Probably wouldn’t hurt to have a Helms manual for your car nearby and a couple of 5mm drill bits to lock the cams down.
what is hondabond?
what is hondaobond?

TORQUE WRENCHES!!! I knew I forgot something important. Make sure you torque everything down to spec.
fam1ny - Hondabond is a liquid gasket that honda makes. It is the shiz, works on everything.

i have the ratchets and metric wrenches cause i havea 144 piece craftmans tool set, but things i don’t have are hondabond and timing light? what’s a timing light? is that a timing gun? oh yea how much does hondabond run for
Yeah, a timing light and a timing gun are the same thing…
Hondabond goes for around $10 I think. I dont really know because I usually get it for free

to get the pulley off, you’ll need a chain wrench. Good luck finding one cause they are extremely hard to find in chino. Impact wrench is probably the best way to go. I’ve replaced both with the last three months. Good luck.
all snap-on tools cuz craftsman sucks. I’ve rounded off too many bolts with my dad’s craftsman tools that took a long time to fix, and definitely wouldn’t want that happening on an important part.

oh i’ve heard of those, yea almost hit a friend when the chain broke and went flying, so rather not use chain, and J. advised against it, anyway i got a snap on tool to hold hte crank pulley haha
thanks br, btw i’m doing the same job, except my dumb ash went and bought the pulley holder tool!.

i just tried a 600lb-ft craftsman pro on the crank. no go.
so dont use a chain wrench? i just saw that sears has them for 19.99 and was planning to pick one up tomorrow. i assume since 600lbs couldnt do it id probably end up snapping it too?
rant: my tensioner is stripped to hell and no air ratchet can loosen it either. so my timing belt has been hanging off the side for a few days and will continue to do so until i figure out what to do…
I had to rent a 3/4" (3/4 not 3/8) impact wrench and 10 hp gas powered compressor to get that damn crank pulley bolt off
