Top Hat Extension?

Looks like way too much what? It’s basically the same shit as the GC ones. if the welds are done right, then it should function just the same as the GC’s… plus you can make the piping for whatever length you want according to how your shocks are setup.

Plus with the DIY method, you can make them for any springs out there instead of buying GC springs only…

exactly - the GCs are meant for their coilies with their own upper perches.

i need to do it for my sportlines

plus my guy will weld them up for £20 ($30?) if i do the prep work of cutting them.

that’s a nice job by the HT guy, neat welds

If you’re planning to have your weld guy do it, tell him to weld it from the inside instead of on the outside… that way, you won’t be risking the welds hitting on the outside of the mount hole and not sit flush…

I just realized the pic of this teg is not a G2. Which explains why the extension is longer.

Yeah was wondering about this. On that guy’s website though, he goes on to say that welding on the outside is stronger, but you may run into clearance issues on around about 60deg of the cutout. However he then says the edges can be altered with a ball peen hammer, as not structural:

seems fair enough for a stronger join. Don’t see why it cant be done inside and out really? unless it’d be over-working the area. i’m no expert on TIG welding

ride?

So how comfortable is the ride on any setup compared to the stock top mounts and extended ones?

So this can work on any lowering spring setup right?

well, mine are now on. 35mm extension. the guy welded from the outside, but welded right the way through. very neat, strong job, and even turned the tubing to perfect size. cost a ibt more than anticipated though :frowning:

still, easily worth it - car is riding beautifully. can’t compare it to before, as i swapped out some shorter CRX shocks at the same time…
