Tow hook question

I’m woundering if the bar on the tow hook that conects to the body by the steering rack is in any way structural. It rattles on my header and i want to pull it out. I’m just not sure if it serves any purpose other than suporting the tow hook

Its there to hold the radiator if I’m not mistaking, taking it off would (IMO) be a bad idea. It also helps make the frame stronger.

It dosn’t hold the radiator in place. It bolts to the front cross member and to the body on either side of the steering rack. Are you sure about it makeing the frame stronger? that is why i don’t want to remove it but looking at it it dosn’t seem to be a very sturdy pice so i’m just not sure. Plus if i’m not mistaken if you switch to a full race traction bar you have to remove it anyway. Has anyone removed the pice that i’m talking about?

Can you post a pic of the “bar” you’re talking about please? The only one i can see you talking about would be the lower radiator support.

Are you referring to #1 in this picture?

If the answer is yes, then you can go ahead and remove it. It doesn’t serve any significant purpose which anyone has been able to find, and in fact was not even included on 92-93 GSR model Integras. If you want to know more about that specific part, then search, the topic has been discussed multiple multiple times over the past 10yrs.

If it is #1,all that dose is help the oil pan/down pipe from getting banged up.

Ya I was talking about #1. I would have searched it but i didn’t really know what it was called. I didn’t think that it did anything but i just wanted to be sure
