was at Japfest II last saturday, probably the UK’s biggest jap car show.
Given that it was the Skyline GTR Owners Club annual meet, with about 150 doing a parade lap, and you rarely see GTRs in the UK, it was funny to see that mine was the only DA at the whole show!
i know, i was laughing at her - it was her first ever time on track and she really was like ‘it’s alright i suppose…’ lol
There’s a section of donington called the Craner Curves, a downhill right-left which off cambers on the switch to the left. You usually hit the switch over at 100mph (BTCC Touring Cars at 150mph plus :run: ) and it’s a scary corner - any backing off and you’re done.
I had a bit of a moment with the back starting to step out on one lap; after i held it, I looked across, and she was gazing out the side window! I’m having her checked for a pulse next week…
to give an idea of the track, here’s a vid from last year. Camera car is my mate’s std ITR, I’m in the modded silver VTEC estate just over to the left in front as the vid starts, overtaking the Audi Short Sport
a mate with a 4g lude set up for track (2.2 vtec) has just put his vid up
i 1st appear at 6.00 mins in (you can FF through), and manage to last a lap before i’m reeled in, not too bad for a little b16 (i just managed to get past the other lude in front he he)
