track times!

well, i am not happy with my runs, my first run with my b16 teg was my best with a 15.8 with a high 2.3 60ft time. Then i got two 16.3 runs in w/ 2.5 60 ft times. The weird thing is that the first run i was shifting b4 7k and run a 15.8 and then i was shifting at like 7.6k and running slower. Here are my mods:

jdm b16a
y1 tranny
aem intake
2 1/4" exhaust w/ skunk2 muffler
Exedy 8 lb flywheel
Exedy stage 1 pp
bronze stage 3 clutch
Walbro 190 pump
B&M fpr
15" rota grids with shitty tires

I know I need some bfg’s on the front to actually grip off the launch but I was still expecting better but than again it’s not a torquey motor and from a roll it is quick. just thought i would share.

15.8 with a swap? hmm… I ran 15.8 with my B18 I/E/H. could be alot of things…maybe those shitty tires. how was your r/t? were u peeling out alot? what was the temp outside that day? did u run with full interior or gutted?
i think you should be running mid to low 15’s. but yeah, thats kinda sucks, i would be dissapointed too.

r/t has no effect on 1/4 times…

something that hardly anyone mentions when discussing 1/4 mile times on this site is the effect of weather on the way a car runs. in my three years of bracket drag experiance, i have found that temperature affects e.t. by about .01 second per degree, and humidity about .01 second per 5 percent. you’ve also got to consider the altitude and density of the air where you’re running. if one person runs his car on a late fall evening, when it’s 50 degrees outside, it will run nearly half a second faster than that same car on a sunny summer day. and if that sunny summer day is in the rocky mountains where the air is thin, that nice 15 second car will turn out a disappointing mid-16 second e.t.

i admit i’m a newbie here, but it seems like you guys are really quick to look for problems with the car/driver/setup and give advice on those subjects without knowing under what conditions a run was made. and, since an i/h/e swap might be expected to yield .3-.5 second increase, a potential .3 second difference due to weather conditions alone is really worth considering…

well i went to the test and tune out at famoso last friday for the first time in my teg. all stock with a cut off muffler and ran a 16.3 consistently. trap speed was around 85 m.p.h. not bad for a stock ls with 185 miles and slipping clutch with old tires.

Yeah… you should be waay faster than a 15.8 in a B16 swapped DA with some bolt-on’s. What ECU are you running? SURE Vtec is kicking? Sounds Mighty slow for all you have done. I mean… a 2.3 60’ is not THAT bad… but yes… still bad. LOL.

Put it this way… I just ran my Stock 91 RS the other night with only cut-off muffler, 156,000 Miles, bald tires and Minor clutch slip. Best run of the night was this:
R/T: .403
60’: 2.232
330: 6.372
1/8: 9.850
MPH: 70.65
990: 12.781
1/4: 15.434
MPH: 87.37

Type out your 15.8 slip if you still have it and compare to mine. If you type out the full slip, it will give a better idea of what is going on with yuor car at different points down the track.

LOL You’re sure posting that everywhere huh 2ndGenTegRacer :stuck_out_tongue:

yea sorry felt i needed to share because it is just crazy. Never thought i could get my car into the 14’s with just intake and exhaust. I could be in mid 14’s with a new clutch and flywheel and alittle more weight reduction.
