traction bar compatiability

ive been looking at getting a traction bar for my car, 1- because i want to get a tri-y header and dont really want to trim my subframe. 2- because i plan on making 200+whp all motor, and i wouldnt mind putting that power down once i start making it lol.

ive been looking around online, and i cant seem to find any reasonably priced traction bars for the da. i can find cheap traction bars for dc’s all day long for $130 shipped. even decent ones like nrg for about $200. it seems like the only company’s that make them for the da are inovative and avid racing. which are great products im sure. but they start out at $320 on ebay.

does anyone know if the dc traction bar will fit a da, or how much modification it would require to make it fit. and if not, is there anyone on here that does custom metal fab work that would be willing to mass produce some. because im sure there are plenty of people on here that would buy them if they were reasonably priced. somewhere in the $200 shipped range.

DC traction bars will NOT fit. Instead of modifying a DC bar (which is pretty much cutting it up and starting from scratch anyways), it would be more cost effective to fab one up of your own (or get someone else to do it). The design is not that complicated, but some R&D will be required to find the optimal angles to prevent binding of the caster arms.

BTW, full race also makes a traction bar for the DA as well (You didn’t list it).

AFAIK, I don’t think you will find a traction bar for DA’s in the sub $200 range, simple because our market is not big enough. Someone on here may be willing to fab one up for you though, good luck.

DA traction bars cost more because there is a little more to them then the DC/EK bars. a traction bar on our cars replaces the entire front subframe. on a DC/EK it is an added piece since they have lower control arms that are mounted in two places and not a strut rod system like the DA. this is why you see some cheap ebay companies make some for the DC/EK but none for the DA. they would probably get sued from they’re horrible parts braking and possibly hurting/killing people. 300$ is pretty good considering there are still some at 450-500$

i have seen the innovate bar at 290$ plus shipping on some sites.

I would just buy a traction bar thats alreay a production piece… Remember you get what you pay for… I have used both the Avid and Innovative bars and have pros and cons on both but they are good pieces in general and will hold up to daily use also.

etd makes traction bar for DA. price is not bad

:iagree:

I have the Full Race traction bar and it’s great.

If your planning for all the things you listed, whats another $100 or $200 for a production traction bar?

I would just spend a little more than that and find a full race traction bar

The Full-race traction bar is good I can vouch for it, there are a few minor inconveniences with it though. It hangs pretty low because of the diameter of the bar and the spherical bearings make noticeable noise. Greasing the joints every month can minimize the noise a bit. I’m using it on my daily driver, and its starting to rust because I bottomed out on it. Damn pot holes:bang:

does it hang lower then the stock crossmember??

I have the ETD traction bar for about 4 yrs with no problems. The ETD traction bar sit about an inch lower than the stock cross member. I emailed and talked to the guys @ ETD and I had great customer service !

Yes it does hang slightly lower, but you should have no problems unless you are totally slammed. I daily drive it as well.

alright thanks. a traction bar would complete my suspension setup but i’m really undecided which one i should get.

Great thread, can any one post more pro’s and con’s as I’m looking to buy one of these for my car. Also my car is not a daily driver and get driven probably about 6 times a year.

Just bought a full race bnib for 280

I currently own the Z10 traction bar. this was designed by geoff of full race…its a nice piece and doesnt hang low like the full-race bar. what you guys gotta remember is those that race there cars in a sanctioned event or whatever just speeding, these bars hold our front end together. before my Z10 bar, I had the place racing traction bar. it broke on me and luckily i wasnt going fast. I was braking coming to a light when the passenger side snapped and almost put me in a curb, so with that said, I have no problem shelling out $425 for a traction bar that is tried and true. some of you guys are gambling…shouldnt do that on the suspension game…cheap can kill you here.

heres a thread I started 4 1/2 years ago…theres a pic of the traction bar. my pics arent showing up anymore but some pros and cons listed and you can see how this sits alot higher than the full race bar. both full race and Z10 are track tested and are built strong using good chromoly steel…not that cheap ebay made stuff. just take a look for yourself and decide and be safe!!

another thing…for you lowriders, these traction bars hang low:
Full-Race
Innovative mounts
Explicit speed
ETD racing

I dont know much about Avid racings other than it has no provisions for a front mount or do they now?

where can i get the best price for one of these Z10 traction bars?

the best way is to call them and I talked with a guy named Nissin at the time I got mine 4 1/2 years ago. I ended up paying $380 shipped with aluminum radius arms(which is a upgrade for more $$)

www.z10eng.com

i was looking on their site. im going to have to contact them to see how much it is for shipping to Canada.

Awesome info. On the link you mentioned i saw VDo with pics of the bar on his car. Does your sit like his in his car?

yes you are speaking of the distance to the ground what you can see right? the bar is tucked to where you can only see a small portion of it. its nice to pull out a driveway and not hear that loud thump like I did with my innovative mounts bar and place racing bar. and my car isn’t even low.
