Like the title says haven some trouble. I’ll try to make this short. Its hard to get in gear, almost every time I shift it seems like its getting cought up on some thing but other times it goes in gear fine but its getten worse, I have a short shifter and no its not the heat shield I have checked that out. I also have some vibration in the gas pedal. At times the car acks like it wants to die when I stop at lights or stop signs. Also when I shift into 1st I hear a clank noice like metal hitting. I called the guy that did my clutch and he said he did put in the throw out bearing,besdes that the car gets up and goes, its fine at highway speeds and I baby this thing 98% of the time. There are times that I do get on it but not here lately. I hope I gave enough info. and if you are from or in the my area maybe you can come and see what Im talking about. Oil levels are fine too.

I have alot of the same problems with mine, especially being hard going into gears sometimes, and perfectly fine other times. I have no idea what it is, and would also like to know.
it sounds like it is your throw out bearing. its what disengages the clutch…without that it will make it hard to get into gear and such. its a $30-$50 part but u have to drop the the trans to put it in. A new throw out bearing should always be put in when doing a clutch even if u think u dont need one.
Thats what I thought but the guy said he put it in but I dont think He did maybe just thought he did. FUCKER, more work for me. :bang:
since he brought up the thing about a short shifter and such and heat shield blocking your shifts…i have a short throw and i find it sometimes hard going from 1st to 2nd…its like it hangs for a sec then goes…anyone might have any ideas as to this…
well since your exhuast is right by your shift linkage it definetly can happen. my friends 95 hatchback does this all the time its quite annoying…in my opinion i think short shifters aren’t worth it…i’ve had bad luck with mine in my teg and my hatch. both made my trannies grind, because i beat the fuck out of them too much.
