I took my tranny apart and installed my obx diff. Put the tranny back together and it will not go into 1st,3rd,4th and 5th. An old motorsports mechanic told me to check the 12mm screw with the ball and spring closes to the passenger axle. Removed the screw to find that the spring was messed up and the ball was wedged into the screw(sorry bolt). The opening on the bolt is now oblonged(not circle). I replaced the bolt with anouther that my freind had lying around and I have come to the conclusion that when im tightening the bolt its pressing against something inside the tranny. Now im having trouble getting the case off.
when everything is put together does the clucth spline suppose to turn by hand???
pics are blurrd but the 1st pic is the old bolt with spring.
The second one got logged in there and has some marks on the ball. As if it was pressed against something.
It should turn by hand but sometimes if the tranny is dry and not lubricated it can be kinda hard. I put grease in my gears when i put it back together, lol not sure if I should have, but the shaft turned fairly easily. If you can’t turn it at all then maybe there is something wrong.
Oh and when u seal it up put some plumbers tape or something in the bottom bolts and make sure you cake up both sides with honda bond. Don’t cheap out with some other gasket material like I did cuz it will leak.
If you can clarify, or show a picture of what your actual question is I should be able to help. I’m really confused as to what is or isn’t happening when your trying to pull apart the cases.

pretty much My roommate(ex motorsport mechanic) installed my case and when I put the tranny in I noticed that it would go in the gears I posted above. I could get the case off after removing it. Thats why I come to the conclusion that something is binding up. Everyone That works on tranny seem to have little to no problems putting cases back on and taking off. I pretty much want to know what to look for when removing so I dont mess up my perfectly fine tranny.
Ummm … are you saying u don’t know how to get the case off??? Maybe you forgot to take out the bolt on the side of the housing that holds the reverse gear in place? And i’m sure you know about the c-clip in the top that you have to pop off first.
This peice which I have no idea the name is what I think is the problem. Ok 2 out of the 3 tolerances are out of spec according to the write-up I went through.
This one is out of spec:
this one is good:
And this one had the most drag:
Im think I will have to change this piece. We where able to get it into all the gears it just took a lil effort.
