tranny removal question

Howdy,

I’m contemplating removing my 2nd Gen Teg transaxle (non-VTECH) so that I can replace a broken clutch, and I have some questions for those of you who may have already been through this:

1.) Can I place a piece of wood under the oil pan, and support the engine with a jack while the transaxle is out? Or would that damage the oil pan? (I noticed that it looks like only ONE engine mount will still be attached to the car after the transaxle is removed…)

2.) Can I effectively remove the transaxle with a second hydraulic jack?

3.) Is there anything else I should know?

Thanks!

yes you can support the engine with a jack…you’ll have to in fact…and you should have 2 mounts still holding the motor…

using a second jack to help get the tranny out is a good idea…

be sure you jack the car up high enough to be able to get the tranny out from under the car…nothing sucks more than having the tranny on the ground and realizing what you can’t slide it out from under the car…

removal in pretty straight forward…just follow the directions…
