Hi,
I’m thinking of doing a auto-to-manual tranny swap. Do manual and auto use same trans axle (aka drive shaft)?

no because a 5 speed you have a intermediate shaft on the driver side.
According to a post that i read before, it depends on the year transmission you are using. If you are using the 90-91 transmission, then get the intermediate shaft for that year. As well as for the 92-93. If i remember correctly, the axles must also match the year of the transmission. Standard or auto axles, it doesnt matter.
I’m going to assume you are using a cable tranny. Only the intermediate shaft is different. You will need the manual intermediate shaft. You can use your auto axles. I did.
Wrong…Wrong…Correct…
you can use any bseries axles with the correct halfshaft…so if you use 90-93 axles you must use 90-93 5 speed halfshaft if you use 94+up axles you will need 94+up half shaft but as you said auto or standard axles are the same…i have auto axles so i know lol
same here used my auto axles on my swap to manual but i did swap the halfshaft to a manual one

Just want to add one thing to your post. If you use the 94+ half shaft you also need to change the seal on the trany as the 90-93 seal will not seal correctly with the 94+ shaft.
