So I’m having an issue with the 92 not being able to shift into gears at all when the car is on and very difficult to pull out of gear when it does go into gear. Originally I thought it was the clutch slipping or cable adjustment, but it doesnt fully pull or release the clutch so I’m thinking it may be a stretched cable, bent pedal (still have no idea were to look) or my throwout bearing is bad.
If anyone could give me any thoughts or how to check/test these parts to see if theyre good then it would be appreciated.
There is an adjustment deal on the transmission side of the cable to tighten up the cable. It is all plastic so it’s possible the threads stripped and your clutch is out of adjustment. If it was your throw out bearing it would be screaming at you every time you touched the clutch pedal. Sounds like too much slack in the cable
when the pads on the clutch wear off completely you will not be able to put the car in any gear while it is running, Cable & pedal may feel “slackish”
You can always try a new cable as that would be a cheap fix, but i have had a couple cars that had the clutch go out and the end result was just as you describe.
I managed to get the car working for a while. Put the car in 1st turned it on let it stall and then it worked. Drove around for an hour accidentally I let it shake again and screwed it up and had a hard time shifting on the way back home. I have no idea how it worked and was smooth then now it shakes again and its screwed up…
Already have a new clutch I’ll be putting in after I get back from the field in november with the military.
