So my little brother was driving home on the freeway and the car started to shake. He pulled over and the transmission was supposedly messed up. I inspected it today and the casing area near the stabilizer bar and shift linkage broke. Are my synchros gone? I’m planning to pull out the transmission this weekend. It’s a GS-R ys1, so my only option is to source one down (difficult) or swap in a new housing. What should I look for when I take it apart? What was the culprit for this? I’m not a transmission guy, so I’m not really knowledgeable in this area. Please help.
Sounds like maybe it was bottomed out somewhere down the line and finally just broke? or either way it was hit there. Source any 92-93 ls or gsr case.
bump, what should i look for when i open it up? is it easy to swap cases?
this somewhat happened to me except mines completely broke -.- sucks cus its a jdm b16 trann too…
If it didn’t break immediately when he pulled over, do you know how long it operated with no tranny fluid?
he said the car started shaking and wouldnt go into gear. he then pulled over and a tow truck behind him (how convenient) said that he saw oil dripping. so i’m guessing he was a driving without tranny fluid for a bit. I’m pulling the tranny today.
