ok so i have a 1990 Integra LS 4 door and the other day i was driving to work and all of a sudden the car acted as if it was in neutral (its A/T) i put it in drive, nothing i put it in S, nothing i put it in 2, and still nothin i have no idea what happened like the tranny just died. its been on the street for a few days and this morning i got in the car and it MOVED!!! what is up with that does anyone know why that could be??? im scared to drive it help please!!!

ok does the car run now??/ this happen to me once and it was because i have no oil in the tranny…

Was the light in your dash indicating the shift selection you had? D, S3, S4, etc… Or were no lights on, or was the neutral light on?

Check your transmission fluid.

Leave it in D and go for a stroll on a high speed limit street close to your home. Let off the gas just before your transmission upshifts, and press hard on the pedal 1/2 second after to grab the next gear hard. Listen and feel for any slipping or hesitation when you are grabbing gears. This could indicate your friction plates going bad.

you should change the title of you thread into an actual question, the way you worded it might get this thread closed.

besides that:
Check your tranny fluid, if its ok, try changing it and using Honda ATF (automatic transmission fluid) it should clear things up. If you problem still sticks around let us know.

I had the same problem as you have, and all i did was change tranny fluid. it got rid of that “slipping” completely. good luck.

I have the same problem with my automatic. The kicker is I have honda atf I changed out in january and The car has only moved 20 miles this year. Well let me go ahead and kick myself in the axx, I let a friend borrow my car that has been sitting for 12 months so he can use as a daily, It took 2 days for him to call me back saying the car broke down with tranny problems. I will also post what I find.

check the transmission pin…mine fell out in down town atlanta…couldnt park reverse or n e thing…could only drive… happened twice…first time i didnt know it was a pin so i got a jdm transmission… which means i wasted money… damit n its a like minute fix

NOT to jack this thread but; i just bought my first A/T DA. Ive had 4 manual teggys before & just today i decided to buy an A/T.:werd:

n e ways, when i put it on D 1st gear it will go ok. On 2nd gear it will slip/hesitate, hit a very high rpm before engaging into 3rd. but after that all gears run strong. Also whats the little button on the side of the A/T shifter for? overdrive?

If anyone out there with A/T tranny experience can please guide me i would gladly appreciate the help.

Im also gonna try to change the fluid to Honda ATF tomorrow. hopefully that helps.

The button is for “Sport” mode. It raises the shift points so to allow for a bit more spirited driving. Drop the lever into S and you’ll see the indicator on the dash switch to s4. When you press the button, it will limit your top gear to 3rd and the indicator on the dash wil switch accordingly.

well i did a fluid change to the tranny using Castrol Import fluid with one of those “LUCAS TRASNMISSION- STOP LEAKS & SLIPS” stuff but it still feels the same. im just crossing my fingers & hope its not the fucken tranny itself couse im gonna put a fucken brick right thru the front windshield…lol j/k:umno:

sounds like a dirty filter when you let it sit all the crap hos a chance to fall off the filter letting it pump fluid

isnt the the transmission filter inside the transmission itself?

well i changed the trans fluid & added sum of that $15 lucas no slip & it still runs like crap… any of u out there with AUTO TRANS had ever had this problem b4??:bawl:

use Honda ATF and report back.

my tranny used to run like crap, until i switched to Honda ATF. All the problems i had (hard shifting, “slipping”, etc) went away.

k im gonna have to do that… question is, “where do i get it from”?

A Honda dealership.
I used to get mine from a local dealership that sold OEM parts on eBay.
But yeah, go to a local Honda dealership and ask. While you’re at it, get some power steering fluid too (solved my squeaky steering); even if nothing is wrong with it, it couldnt hurt.
