Hey everyone! I looked into joining this forum years ago but never pulled the trigger. I’ve been on Honda-Tech since 2006, but these days our second gens are getting a little harder to come by, and since I decided it’s about time to put my '91 back on the road, I figured this is the place to be. I got into Hondas when a friend sold me a '91 CRX. I replaced that with a '91 Integra that I bought for $500, it lasted a few months… LOL. I replaced that one with a much nicer ‘91 Integra that I built up and daily drove for over four years. Unfortunately DD duty, along with “old car disease” took it’s toll, the car was getting run down and developing wiring issues. I bought a Jeep and left my DA9 parked for about three years.
Now I’ve finally decided it’s time to pull her out of hibernation and fix her up. I miss my gas mileage and I miss driving my nimble little Acura. She needs a lot of lovin’ to get back into shape, and it’s going to take some time, but after three years of sitting she’s registered and insured again. So here are some pictures from her glory days, and some current ones. Hopefully my fellow DA enthusiasts can help me out here with some of the specifics along the way, and I’ll be happy to share any knowledge I have if it can help anyone out!
Okay! Welcome! Keep us updated as you bring it back to life. What are your plans for this thing? Weekend warrior? Daily? Track car?
All it needs is the carbon hood wetsanded and recleared (you wetsand, pay for a good painter to clear), and a new replica front lip. Give is a solid detail with IronX, clay, seal, and wax…car will look great again!
was that a real carbon fiber front lip?
i can’t wait to get my db1 up and running again.
That lip looked like it went through several brick walls on the first 2 pics. Surly that was a new lip on the last 2, just no way that lip was sculpted back to life with all that damage.
The hood is a carbon kevlar from VIS. The lip is… was a carbon fiber from JDP. The ugly pictures are what the car looks like now, the nice ones are from 5-7 years ago.
Getting the car back on the road for now to use as a daily. Just finished installing new carpet, I’ll start a build thread soon and post pictures. Next on the list is probably re-clear coating the hood, repainting the car (the clear coat all fell off) and replacing the front lip and putting on side skirts and getting new wheels (threw on some ugly five spokes for now, but the tires were good).
I have a few electrical gremlins to work out, so once everything is back to being reliable and the cosmetics are OK, I have a turbo sitting on my tool box that’s looking for a new home.
Welcome, Trev. Excited to see it come back to life. : )
