I just replaced cam seals and cam plug. I put everything back together and started putting the timing belt back on. I followed all the steps in the haynes manual it’s at TDC and everythings how it should be but when i go to tighten it one side gets tight and the other side stays lose. I tried starting over about 5 times and it just does the same thing. Does anyone know what the problem might be. Thanks
Your tensioner might be busted? Did you route the belt the right way?
Here is a link to the removal and installation of the Timing belt on a b17a1. Its from the Service Manual. Hope it helps some.

got it to work thanks for the help.
how do you move everything counter clockwise? I don’t get the instructions at all. Can someone help me out?
Thanks
What exactly are you trying to do, just tension the belt? Or are you installing a new one? To turn the engine all you do is use a 19mm socket on the crank pulley bolt. If you pulled the pulley off already then you need to re-install the crank pulley bolt, tighten it with a forceful jerking motion (that’s what she said), then when you turn it CCW with a ratchet or breaker bar do so very gently and smoothly so as to not break the bolt loose again. You’ll break it loose a few times for sure, just tighten it again and try rotating CCW again till you finish the job.

8yr 7month thread bump, I think that may be the second oldest necro I’ve ever seen.
I will say at least you searched first.

That’s the only reason why I tried to help.
