Trunk Supports: one of these things is not like the other

I have '92 GSR. I just purchased aftermarket trunk (lift) supports. Supposedly they are direct replacements, but I noticed the ends are not the same. The hardware provided looks like I need to remove the original hardware. Also, the new support ends face the same direction, where the original support ends are at a 90 degree angle to each other.

Has anyone replaced their OE supports with these (see last pic)? Are there any issues?

I replaced mine with some like that, they work fine, but yes you’ll need to remove the original hardware. I’d save it though in case you ever switch back to the other style down the road.

Same here. The aftermarket replacements are a bit different, but work fine. I was mostly annoyed that the plastic covers wouldn’t fit anymore.
