Trying to clear tails. Didnt work. trying to cook em. little advice

I ahve read the searched threads. I have done this to many many many pairs of headlights before including the ones that are on my car now.

My question is… Will the foam that is glued on the tail light burn off at 200-300 degrees or do I have to take a razor and try to trim it off? If I destroy the foam where can I get a new one?

you mean the pink stripes on your tail lights?

please be more specific about which lights…

your topic says tail’s but you post headlights… and then you saw tails again. which light is it? the front or the back? lol

yeah cause if it is the 90-91 there is a real simple way to clear them… and if you have the 92-93 you will have to heat them up and take them apart … i put mine in the oven at 225 for 15 min… then i just pealed them apart… take your time cause if you rush it you will crack the lense…

You will have to get new gaskets if they burn…dealership wanted $30 EACH, but you can find them online for less.

if it is the 90-91 tails… i heard someone bleeched the pink lines to a white… foggy look.

I bleached mine, just boil some water and pour it in after the bleach and swish it around. Might have to do it more than once, but it works.

The gasket’s won’t will burn… but who would put them in the oven…
you take it off first… also, before putting it in the oven try to take out the fins on the side of the light, they are easily melted …
( I wouldn’t suggest taking them apart, they will never completely seal and will ALWAYS fog up )
i did my lights back in the day with little to no knowledge about cars…

you can buy some castrol super clean
it’s a purple spray bottle it just says “Super Clean” but made by castrol (it confused me for a while)
just spray a lot of it in there, then move it back and fourth making sure the chemical actually gets to the len’s …
let it sit there for a while (a few minutes), it shouldn’t hurt anything
when finished, it still might be a good idea to put a small bead of some silicone
around the lens because the old age / chemical might put some wear and tear on it…
rinse / repeat (if necessary) / reinstall…

Used “super clean” , bleach, simple green, boiling water, cold water lol let a few of these sit for hours… finally cooked the tails and rubbed the color off. Took 5 mins at 275 to peel them apart and about 10 seconds to remove the lines. Then cooked then for another 5 mins and placed back together with clear silicone in between.
