tuning help

okay i am about to go get my car dyno tuned, i have a 92 teggy with and stock 92 bottom end, a 94 head-port and polished, crower 403’s, crower dual valve springs, and crower valves- with a 3 angle valve grind, i also have a cai, skunk2 intake mani, bbk 70 mm tb,walbro 255 fuel pump, 4-1 header, 2 1/4 exhaust… so with that being said, i already have a b&m fuel pressure regulator, and skunk2 cam gears, for them to tune it with,
but i was wondering if i should get the apexi safc also…
and if so should i get the safc 1 or safc 2…

1)cam gears and a fuel pressure regulator not much to tune with.
2)afc2 has alot much features than the afc1.

so then i should get the safc to help fine tune my motor?
and will the second one work for my car…are they universal?

hondata or uberdata

i dont have anyone around here to do the ecu with hondata or uberdata
so i think im gonna get the apexi safc2

Are you going to use the stock ECU and stock injectors? There is a bit of inconsistency in the stuff you have added. The intake and the header produce their power in the high rpm band. Your TB provides sufficient air flow and your fuel pump supplies lots of fuel. The questions in my mind are:

  1. Can your injectors satisfy the fuel need?
  2. Will the bottom end take the increased load?

Your stock ECU limits your engine RPM below that which is needed to get the power provided by the components you have added. The ECU also may not be able to compensate for fuel requirements. So you need a secondary AFC.

The next issue is how to tune without some instruments that show you results, like a dyno or a wide band AFR such as AEM’s UEGO. Otherwise its strictly trial and error.

I think your two biggest concerns are too lean a mixture which could cause detonation and too high an RPM limit which could blow the bottom end.

Hope this helps.

thanks for all the replys first of all…
my injectors are stock but i have dsm 440 injectors i will install when i get my turbo kit together, i got the apexi safc 2 now i just need to install it, i am taking my car to a dyno tuner next week so they can fine tune it all in and get it running great, i am excited to see what kind of time’s i will be running with my new set up, i was running 15.5 with i/h/e …any guesses…
