AMERIKAN: You suggested that I save my money and get a Type R intake instead of the JG Edelbrock. I’ve been hearing that the JG is the best on the market…is it not going to be that much better than a type R manifold? Also, what do you suggest for throttle body? I want to avoid type R throttle bodies cause there to much. What do you guys think?![]()
click on engine parts, then (i THINK) engine mecha (if it’s not that section just surf around a lil it’s there). 68mm billet throttle body (no sensors, just the TB)…$390. even comes in your choice of fashionable anodized colors. ![]()

Who told you that the JG is the best? Their ads in Import Tuner? They are very new to the market and the ITR intake is proven. Type R throttle body is too much what? Money? If you plan on getting JG, Comptech, etc., and you are concerned with price on the Type R TB???

UH…yeah I’m concerned with the price. Modacar sells Type R throttle bodies for $519.00 when I could get a Holley 68mm for $379.00!!! Hence the fact that I would avoid them cause they are pricey. Geesh, I just asked a question. I may be a beginner, but you address me like you NEVER were one.
Just wondering how much HP can I expect from adding an Type R intake to a B16A?
ZOOMINTEGRA: Do you have a link to the page on hondamotorsonline.com that shows B16A blocks for 450 + s/h, cause I can’t find it on their site. Or did you find out by calling them or emailing them.
Thanks a lot, LocalePED
I have this in black on my car. 68mm $390.00

lol does that say “Frick’s racing”? ![]()
“Aww…FRICK!! You beat me!” ![]()
Nice Ericks Racing throttle body! Didn’t know you could get that in diffrent colors. Modacar sells them, but I only thought they came in clear.
Zoom, did you happen to have a link for the B16A for $450? Can’t find it on there page. Please let me know if you do. Thanks, LocalePED

Hey thanks zoom…I never saw that link before! Late, LocalePED
I was wondering…can I use a Holley 68mm Throttle body thats specified for a 92-95 Civic 1.6L Vtec on a 88-91 B16A? The reason I ask is cause my friend will sell it to me for real cheap…otherwise I guess I have to go with the Ericks 68mm Throttle body. I guess what I really want to know is…can parts that are specified for a B16A2 be used on a B16A1? Like the throttle body in this case? PLEASE let me know! Thanks, LocalePED
no. those 1.6 vtec engines are D-series engines. d-series TB no fit on b-series engine.
shoot! Oh well, looks like I’m going with the one from Jdmhondaparts.com …Thanks zoom! Hey BTW, in another thread zoom I read that you were getting portflow to port your head and do the whole deal. Do you know much about port flow dual rate valve springs and retainers? Are they as good as or better than Ferrea equipment? Thanks, LocalePED
well i’m not familiar with Ferrea’s components, but the portflow springs are a bit stiffer than type R’s, and the retainers are titanium. i called skunk2 and asked if portflow springs/retainers/valves would be good to use with their cams and they said it was one of the better combinations to use. just to let ya know, skunk2’s vs. JUN3’s are dyno’d below, and the ONLY difference betwixt the two runs were cams. head is still here, it’s not goin out till like february some time (hey properly building an engine takes time ;))

skunk2 is yummy.
Ok, as for the B16a Longblock someone posted. To do that swap in my integra, all I would need is the ECU, and the Transmission right, nothing else? Thanks guys.
Chris
Chris, what is wrong with the tranny you have now?
Well here is my delima (sp) I want to kinda go TURBO with my B18a, but it has high mile (167,XXX) So It would take a lot of work to get it ready. But I also want V-tec, So I heard an LS tranny isnt that useful for a B16a1 motor. I mean I know I could use the LS tranny, but I want it done right the first time. Thanks man
Chris
Here is my opinion (whatever it is worth): A B16 is going to cost you how much? Could you not build your B18 for for turbo around the same price?
Then you will have your original engine ready for turbo when you can afford it. You want VTEC? Why? When you drive with a turbo on and it spools up?
THAT, MY FRIEND, IS WHEN YOU WON’T CARE ABOUT VTEC:rant:

Alright, So if you would not mind telling me some things I should do, to get my engine capable of handling 6psi daily, and about 10psi at the track. Thanks man
I believe a low mileage B18 with stock internals could handle 6 p.s.i. easily and 10 p.s.i. once in a while, but, only with the right fuel management and tuning. You might want to think about how addicting boosting could get.
What if you aren’t happy with the times at 10 p.s.i. but your lower end can’t handle more? So you would want the bottom end built strong with iron sleeves, aftermarket pistons, billet rods, etc.
I don’t mean to confuse you. It is really an issue of how fast do you want to be and how much money do you want to spend?
You could put a turbo kit( and a few other things like injectors) on your car now and boost 5-6 p.s.i and probably get near 200 w.h.p.
